The vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has debunked insinuations that the APC presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), has a plan to Islamise the country.
Osinbajo, who met with professionals in an interactive session in Warri, said Buhari had refused to give in to pressure to get Nigeria into the Organisation of Islamic Countries between 1984 and 1985 when he was Head of State.
A statement on Thursday quoted the senior Advocate of Nigeria as saying that it was Buhari’s successor, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, that enlisted Nigeria into IOC through military fiat in 1986.
Apart from Babangida, he pointed out that the only other Nigerian head of state that had attended the IOC summit was President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The APC vice-presidential candidate said those accusing Buhari of being a Muslim fundamentalist and campaigner of Islamisation of Nigeria were distorting history.
Osinbajo said, “Throughout his period as military head of state, Buhari was under intense pressure to drag Nigeria into the IOC, but he never yielded because he respects Nigeria as a secular state in line with the constitution. Besides his cook and driver are Christians
“When Gen. Babangida eventually dragged Nigeria into IOC, none of the successors ever attended any of its meeting because they know to Islamise Nigeria is very difficult as you need to first get the constitution amended. That process, you know, is almost impossible.
“But it is on record that in 2013, President Jonathan, undermining the constitutional limitation, ensured that Nigeria attended an IOC meeting.”
Osinbajo also visited the Chief Tuesday Onoge-led faction of the Urhobo Progress Union, where he talked on the imperative for men of integrity to lead Nigeria. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

How do you know is it what he told you are you in his mind? You sold Christianity and betrayed Christ for selfish ambition. Shame on you
ReplyDeleteOSIBANJO, YOU ARE STILL IN DARKNESS. WHEN YOUR EYES OPENS, YOU WILL KNOW WHERE YOU ARE. IT SEEMS YOU LOVE MONEY MORE THAN GOD.
ReplyDeleteUnder intense pressure you said. That is for less than two years what will happen if under more intense pressure for about four years and as a condition by boko haram. You will soon wake up. Nigeria will survive era of selfish and greedy learders in Jesus name
ReplyDeletePlease Christians enlighten us on how he intends to islamise you if there is any word like that. Please we need a quick response!
DeleteHis mission to islamatise Nigeria was well known in 2011 campaign. I was not told but heard it in NTA News during one of his campaign. I did not know this will ever happen and did not record the news report
DeleteU can call for a copy of d video from nta since there is freedom of information act. What he didn't do as a military head of state! U need help especially psychiatric help as fast as possible!!!
DeleteI pity Osinbajo. As a pastor he has preached that do not mingle with an unbeliever. I am sure he has stopped some marriages because one of the couple is not a believer but here is he breaking his own rules. This goes a long way to show what power can do to a Holy man. It seems Christ and very few men of God were the only people that did not get lured into power. Pastor Osinbajo is my pastor so I know what I am saying. Just as one of my cousin is in bondage now, as she has being forcefully made a Moslem. So also will Nigerians be forcefully converted and the trouble you thought you had escaped will come back to laugh at you. Who told you that Buhari's government will be a true democracy. My fellow Nigerians give me one example of a former military government displaying true democracy. Thank God we can all go to the media and cartoon our president and make jest of him. Try that in Buhari's regime and you will be declared missing the next day. It is very easy for Buhari to eliminate Pastor Osinbajo and carry out his real ambition. By that time, Nigerian will say had I known. But it is too late, votes will no longer count and we will continue to have military rule in civilian dress. Nigerians have the characteristics of praising people after loosing them. I hope we will not make a mistake as a nation. I have never voted before but will vote this time.
