The Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday described the nomination of former Minister of State for Defence and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, Senator Musliu Obanikoro, by President Goodluck Jonathan as laughable.
In a statement released by the party, its Publicity Secretary, Mr Joe Igbokwe, questioned the rationale behind the nomination, wondering what value the President was expecting from minister who recently resigned from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The party added that recycling people will certainly not take the nation to greater heights.
The party said: “Is Musiliu Obanikoro the only Lagosian qualified to serve in the Federal Executive Council?
As a minister, Obanikoro recently left the Jonathan cabinet to pursue a failed governorship ambition.
“Why is it that the President has turned the FEC to a games’ room and not for serious-minded personalities?
Is the nomination Jonathan’s way of placating the former minister, who lost the PDP governorship ticket in primary that returned more ballot than the number of accredited delegates?
“We, in the APC are of the view that the nomination is President Jonathan’s endorsement for lawlessness and abuse.
“Obanikoro’s screening by the National Assembly will be closely monitored and the APC believes it will not be a ‘bow and go’ affair for Obanikoro at the Upper Legislative Chamber.”

My brother, This man called President Goodluck Jonathan seems to have a little boys brain. I wonder if ever reasons before talking. What is this country into? Which way are we going? Its quite unfortunate that this is happenong to Nigeria now. I also believe that we will come out of it by the Special Grace of God. Amen.

ReplyDeleteIs this the same man that was clearly heard on the tape plotting the rigging of elections in Ekiti state? Ofcourse the so-called senate will confirm him in less than ten minutes. That's how low and corrupt this nation has come under Jonathan.

ReplyDeleteIt's time Nigerians leave sentiments and get focused. Igbokwe is obviously throwing unnecessary tantrums! The presidency has got every right to appoint whom they deem fit as far as the person is not found wanting in the eyes of the law. All this apc bickering and childish tantrums is getting to ones nerve. Obviously their is no difference between them and the pdp. Am really coming to terms that they are worse going by their recent acts and shenanigans. Nigeria is yet to get credible political party system and credible opposition.
