Nigeria’s political rivalry hit new heights following a clash between supporters of Nigeria’s leading political parties in London today.
The protesters believed to be supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, besieged Chatham House while General Muhammadu Buhari was delivering his lecture with various placards.
While supporters of PDP brandished placards that read: “Buhari Belongs to the past: The past can’t belong to the future of our children”, “A dictator hiding behind another pastor cannot be a democrat”, and “Nigeria will not return to the past”, supporters of APC displayed a placard that read: “Buhari/Osinbajo: Real Change Has Come”.
An amorphous group called the Civil Society and Support Groups-Diaspora coordinated the protest against Buhari after an alleged mobilisation fee of $20,000 was paid.
The growing support being enjoyed by Buhari from the international community and global leaders was identified as the driving force behind the move for the protest staged to embarrass Buhari while he delivers his lecture.
Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti State Governor, who has been sponsoring series of hate and death wish advertorials against Buhari has been accused as a major financier of the latest protest.
Tension between the two camps were however calmed by officers of the Metropolitan police who patrolled the area. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

The arrogance and show of irresponsibility normally displayed by PDP at home was carelessly exported to London. Why wash your dirty linens under the watch of the outsiders? It's a shame!!
ReplyDeleteIt is certain that the gimmicks of whoever organised the shameful protest cannot fly and it will be difficult to sway us this time around. We will vote rightly in March.
ReplyDeleteIf actually PDP sponsored the anti Buhari protesters, who sponsored the APC protesters? Please no insults, I am just asking
ReplyDeleteDid anyone mention APC protesters? They were APC supporters and sponsored PDP protesters.
Delete@mr anonymous, there is a Video recorded by a Nigerian journalist living in London which shows most of them saying they weren't aware of who Buhari is. They were there because somebody gave them money to be there.
ReplyDeleteDon't mind those useless APC protesters that how they wanted to break my car windscreen yesterday at satellite town Lagos wen de were protesting throwing away T-shirts on motorist road if mistakenly a car locked down someone de we also say is PDP dat sponsored dat person.
ReplyDeleteAction brings re-action they say. who is behind pro Buhari protest is not the issue here.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the issue here, that Buhari carried his dullard sick body outside the shores of Nigeria to expose his illiteracy .APC is full of propaganda. One wonders why Buhari was not able to raise his head up when delivering the written script which took him 2 wks to practice was it because of making blunder or that he did not want to see protest placards in front of him?
