APC insincere about positive change for Nigeria — Jonathan

Goodluck Jonathan, in Benin City, Edo State, yesterday, declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, boycotted the National Conference due to their alleged un-seriousness to bring positive change to Nigerians. He consequently urged Nigerians not to be deceived by APC’s call for change which he described as a deceit.

This came as the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, insisted that the people of the South- South will not vote for a tyrant, but will re-elect President Jonathan who, according to him, has done well for Nigerians and is a blessing to the South-South.

Meanwhile, Governor Adams Oshiomhole failed to welcome the President at the Airport. When the President arrived the Benin Airport, Oshiomhole was campaigning at Edo North senatorial district of the state.

Unlike in 2011, majority of the APC members also boycotted the rally. However, PDP members from neighbouring Delta, Ondo and Anambra states stormed the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium with their supporters.

President Jonathan, who promised to build a Construction Technology Institute in Edo State for the youths to learn different trades, recalled that “In 2011, we came here and you voted for us and within these past four years, we did not disappoint you. We are building our Construction Technology Institute in Edo State to take care of young people who want to develop their talents and skills in the construction industry.

“We are talking about transformation not change. Change takes place every day.

“APC boycotted the constitutional conference, so how do they intend to change Nigeria. They are deceiving Nigerians but don’t allow any body to deceive you. The only party that will make Nigerians happy is the PDP.”

On his part, Chief Anenih, said: “One thing is certain, the people of the South-South will not vote for a tyrant. They will not vote for autocracy, they will not vote for somebody who has no respect for human dignity. Mr President, I want to tell you that the entire South-South will give you full vote that there will be nothing left for the opposition.”

Vice President Namadi Sambo urged Edo people to vote for an educated president, adding that Jonathan will site more projects in the South-South if re-elected.
