Vice President Namadi Sambo has relocated to Kaduna State to woo the electorate for the March 28 and April 11 rescheduled elections in the state.
He is also said to be in the state to sensitise the relevant stakeholders on the need for the conduct of peaceful elections across the 23 local government areas of the state.
Sambo has met with religious leaders, traditional leaders, youth leaders, women leaders from the North.
Newsmen, who besieged the late Gen. Usman Katsina House, Kawo, Kaduna, venue of the meetings, were, however, barred from the place.
The Vice President, since 2011, has yet to win any election not only his polling unit but his local government, Kaduna North Local Government Area. This area, known as zone two, Northern Senatorial District, has always been won by the opposition party.
Sambo is said to have left Abuja for Kaduna to strategise on how the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna State will win the rescheduled polls.
He had in the last two weeks visited the state twice, where he held series of meetings with various stakeholders, including religious leaders, community leaders, traditional leaders, youths and women from across the North.
At one of the meetings held with religious leaders last week, the Vice President highlighted the achievements of the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration.
A source at the closed-door meeting informed our correspondent that the Vice President had commenced work aimed at ensuring that the PDP secures appreciable support in Kaduna during the elections.
The source said,“Sambo has held many meetings with various groups, where he listened to what the people have to say about the present administration at the national level, in which he is the number two man.
“The Vice President is doing what we all have been expecting because to lead a country, there is a need for wide consultations with all stakeholders even before election day.
“I am sure these consultations will influence so many people in making their final decisions on the party to vote for.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
