12 reasons why Jonathan deserves re-election – Presidency

The Presidency has given 12 reasons why Nigerians must re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan for another term of four years during the March 28 presidential election.

This was contained in a piece, titled, “Twelve reasons to support Jonathan,” published in the current edition of the in-house magazine of the State House, Abuja, called Villascope.

It listed some of the reasons to include the present administration strides in road construction, railway rehabilitation, remodeling of airports, transformed agriculture sector and increased access to education.

Others are increased access to housing, improved power supply, improved water supply, better health facilities, reformed security infrastructures, economic transformation and increased Nigerians’ participation in downstream oil sector.

The Presidency said Jonathan met 4,500km of motorable roads but constructed/rehabilitated 25,000km of roads.

This, it said, had drastically reduced travel time nationwide.

It added that about five million Nigerians now travel by train after the present administration rehabilitated the nation’s railway.

On education, it said, “Jonathan built 125 Almajiri schools, 14 universities and special schools for girls in 27 states.

“He gave 101 scholarships to first-class graduates to pursue postgraduate courses in the best 25 universities in the world.

“He sponsored 7,000 lecturers of federal and state universities and polytechnics for postgraduate studies to improve quality teaching.”

The Presidency further said that 61,000 housing units had been built in the six geo-political zones of the country.

  3. A country of 180 million people and only 61,000 houses have been built for their welfare in more than 5 years.
14 universities without adequate equipments and learning infrastructure were dumped recklessly all over the country, all struggling to even get NUC accreditation as almost nothing is on ground to accredit. lncluding a foolish attempt to rename Unilag.
    God help us.

    1. How many were built by past administrations? 14 new universities have been built, take off grants were given to the 14 universities, VCs were appointed who should propel the affairs of the institutions. That universities are well structured depends on the VC present, taking UNIZIK for instance, it was transformed into its present state not by the federal govt but by the past VC who completely moved the school from temp site to perm site. Where did he got his funding from? Was it from the federal govt? No, he hiked the tuition fee which enabled it to raise huge sums of money annually including grants they get from donors, governmental/non governmental organisations including well meaning individuals in the society.
We should stop our total dependent on the government for virtually everything. We shouldn't always be thinking of what the government would do for us but what we will do for the government.

    1. You just took the question out of my mouth! How many projects did obasanjo do! I challenge people to tell me just 2 projects of Obasanjo! Just 2! The rehabilitation of the agric sector alone by this government is well enough to keep him going! It's something that's not visible immediately! Obasanjo built only one university during his 8 year tenure and that is his own Bell University! During his tenure he built only one library, and that is the library in Otta farm! Meanwhile GEJ has built 27 federal govt library's across the nation! I challenge anyone on this forum to list just 2 projects obasanjo did during his 8yr tenure!

    2. Obasanjo made effort to fight corruption. E.g. EFCC. Jonathan silenced EFCC.

    4. My country men, the problem that blinds us is that most of us totally lack the ability to making objective assessment of this administration. To every critical thinking Nigerian, this administration's achievement remains unbeatable compared with past governments. Follow Nigerians, let's be more objective in our comments irrespective of tribe, religion or party we may belong to. Cheers

  6. Sometimes I wonder if GEJ and his boys actually think Nigerians are blind. The highlighted projects are not visible for all to see. I guess they are spiritual projects that only highly spiritual people can see. God will help this country.

  7. The single reason why Jonathan is not capable of leading Nigeria is his failure in checking corruption. Corruption is the single obstacle to development in Nigeria. Corruption affect everything in Nigeria including electric power, water, job, housing, medical care, telephone services, etc.

Kill corruption in Nigeria and the country will blossom like a new flower.

  8. Those of u cursing GEJ will weep if, God forbid, he loses. By the time Tinubu and co start demonstrating what corruption actually is and Buhari starts demonstrating his incompetence, you will regret the way I regretted voting for Shagari in 1983.

  9. Whether we like it or not, one cannot fight the truth.

GEJ is a patholigical liar and a highly deceptive individual.

GEJ secured the PDP 2011 mandate by deception (i.e. 419) in that without being compelled, he declared the his intention not to seek for second term and declared with his mouth that his tenure end May 2015 with BBC UK also carrying the story on 01/02/2011. That means, GEJ committed 419.

I have checked and confirmed via google that this story is still on BBC UK website.

Based on the promise and declaration by GEJ back in 2011, Nigerians voted for him, then suddenly his true 419 color showed. Not only did underperformed, he also condoned corruption even more than NPN back in the 1979-1983.

Let's face the fact, GEJ belongs to the father of liars. He now leads a propaganda outfit to swindle Nigerians at all cost.

If someone is pathologically deceitful, it will dangerous to rely on any of his words or to ever take the fellow seriously or believe in the fellow in anyway.

Have you heard what he told the world, he said the Ekitigate tape is fabrication, and that is why he will not investigate or probe it. Amazingly deceitful and stupid (please pardon my French language). The simple question to GEJ then is, how did you determine that the tapes were fabricated in the light of all the evidences and forensic confirmation of the voices coupled with admission on part of some of the individuals involved that indeed they held the secret meeting.

Indeed, a leader may have at his/her disposal the People’s cum Nation's resources to spend (and even squander) all in the name of Projects. However, there are crucial things that a leader on his/her own part must bring to that table/seat of leadership which are namely, righteousness, honesty, integrity, character (must be a man/woman of his/her words either in secret or in the open), hatred for sin, hatred for corruption, hatred for hypocrisy, courage (not an ostrich like leader that will be busy burying head in the sand), empathy, etc.

    The Bible in Proverbs 6:16-19 states that;
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Assessing GEJ on all the aforementioned shows that God can never and will never support and individual like GEJ unless God himself is a liar which can never be so.

GEJ is morally bankrupt, that is a truth that we cannot fight or else we will never be free. Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. It’s only righteousness that will exalt our Nation and I will never accept anything less from any leader voted into power.

I bet my millions on this fact that by the time GEJ is out of power, the new Government will be saddled with huge sums of promissory notes on contracts that have been implemented at ridiculously inflated prices in order for GEJ to try impressing Nigerians within a span of just few months after seeing he has been rejected by us.

GEJ is seriously mounting massive internal debt on Nigerians via hurriedly negotiated contracts at whatever cost in order to fool Nigerians.

GEJ is continuously secretly on a daily basis plunging us into more debt that it will take many generations to repay.

GEJ should have taken the noble part and sponsor someone else as PDP Presidential Candidate rather than wasting millions of precious Naira all in the name of Transformation Agenda Propaganda.

GEJ should have been a man of his words.

  11. Gej must rule till 2019 or else, he divide Nigeria. if our own son cannot be allowed to rule just as others have been ruling then, we will go our seprate way with our oil, we take our oil and there is nothing anybody can do about.

    1. I wish you will just listen to yourself. Oil does not belong to Bayesa state alone.

All the states in the south-south do not share in your sentiment of dividing Nigeria.

I hope you remember that all the oil producing states in Nigeria are not all PDP governed.

PDP strategy of sharing oil money among members is over.

  12. the economy of Nigeria is the oil in our domain and we will shut it down if Jonathan is not allowed to finish his second term. if Jonathan loses the election then, Nigeria loses our oil.

  13. Do you all know why so many PDP are dumping their parties for APC. Guess no. But the truth is that GEJ was able to block their means of looting and monopolizing Nigeria economy. Take fertilizer for example before it use to be distributed by some minister and he found out he sacked them and make ways for it to be distributed through the right channel. Take cement for example Dangote was the only one producing and exporting cement during Obasanjo regime and making other cement producing company to fold up by denying them licence. But today GEJ gave licence to others and cement is cheap for everybody. U can imagine the change in price of cement today. Or is it cars? Today one can get a new brand car below #2m when during Obasanjo u spend such money on tokunbo. Federal roads are now motorable compare to when Obasanjo was in power. Nigerians should wake up and face the reality of life and forget Buhari, APC and all the thief that left PDP to form another mafia thief under APC. Well a word is enough for the wise. Use your PVC wisely now that you still have it rather than bite fingers of I thy know. Till then it's #GEJTILL2019
