Members of the Living Faith Church, better called Winners Chapel, on Sunday stormed the church headquarters located in Ota, Ogun State, western Nigeria, with their voter’s cards to pray for the country ahead of the general elections beginning on 14 February.
The members were earlier asked during the mid-week service of the church to attend the Sunday service with their voter’s cards.
On Sunday, towards the end of the service officiated by Bishop David Oyedepo, the General Overseer of the church, which boasts of several millions of worshippers worldwide, the members were asked to bring out their voters’ cards.
Bishop Oyedepo thereafter asked the members to drop the cards on the floor of the church with prayer points that the election would be peaceful.
The clergyman did not support or favour any of the candidates in the election, but urged the worshippers to pray against violence and for God to silence all sources of violence before, during and after the elections.
Declaring that enough was enough and that satan and his disciples would not have their way in the country again, he asked that the worshippers pray for peace and serenity.
“It shall be crisis-free, no bloodletting and war…No angel of the devil shall be elected into power at all levels…Enough is enough!” he declared.
He prayed further that “all perpetrators of war must go into silence. No agent of the devil shall find its way. Every seed of stagnation is declared broken.”
There had been some apprehension among Nigerians over the outcome of the elections.
Some even speculate the election could be the last in Nigeria as it could result in a war the country may not survive from.
Days ago, the two major presidential aspirants in the election, Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, were made to sign a pact promising to conduct themselves peacefully and discourage violence before, during and after the election.
Heads of churches in the country have also urged their members to ensure they get their voter’s cards in preparation for the exercise.

Deletewhat is wrong if pastors pray for the country? because we have seen from previous elections how blood flows freely when some persons lose out! we don't want heads to roll this time when anyone loses again.
