The Nigerian Army has said it is not in possession of the original or photocopies of the credentials of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Olajide Laleye, said this while briefing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.
Mr. Laleye said that the entry made on the Nigerian Army Form 199A at the point of documentation after Buhari was commissioned as an officer, indicated that the former Head of State obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1961.
“With credits in relevant subjects: English Language, Geography, History, Health Science, Hausa and a pass in English Literature.
“Neither the original copy, certified true copy (CTC) nor statement of result of Major-.Gen. Mohammadu Buhari‘s WASC result is in his personal file.
Mr. Laleye said the army holds the retired senior officer in high esteem and respect and would not be a party to any controversy surrounding his eligibility for any political office.
He said that suffice to state that Mr. Buhari rose steadily to the enviable rank of Major General before becoming the Head of State of the country in December 1983.
“The media hype on the retired Buhari’s credentials as well as numerous requests made by individuals and cooperate bodies to the Nigerian Army on this issue have necessitated that we provide the facts as contained in the retired senior officer’s service records.
“Records available indicate that Buhari applied to join the military as a form six student of the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina, on Oct. 18, 1961.
“His application was duly endorsed by the principal of the school, who also wrote a report on him and recommended him to be suitable for military commission.
“It is a practice in the Nigerian Army that before candidates are shortlisted for commissioning into the officers’ cadre of the service, the selection board verifies the original copies of credentials as presented.
“There is no available record to show that this process was followed in the 1960s,” Mr. Laleye said.
On the recent CNN report concerning issues of kitting, equipment, corruption and medical treatment, Mr. Laleye said there was no Army in the world where personnel did not purchase additional uniforms and kits to augment those officially assigned to them.
“Accordingly, the army has not failed to issue uniforms and kits to its personnel periodically.
“Like other armies, the Nigerian Army has over the years, established ordinance shops in all its barracks and cantonments where uniforms and kits are sold at subsidized prices to its personnel from allowances already provided in their pay slips.
“Similarly the Nigerian Army has a very functional healthcare delivery system in the country. It fully subscribes to the National Health Insurance scheme (NHIS) and this is functional in all its health facilities.
The army spokesperson said that the army had made undoubted operational gains in the North-East of recent, thereby rubbishing the claim that Boko Haram had out-gunned it.
He said that the CNN would do well if it beamed its searchlight on the atrocities of Boko Haram terrorists against the innocent and defenseless Nigerians, rather than the Nigerian Army.
Mr. Laleye said the army would remain focused on its mission to rid Nigeria of terrorism and insurgency.
To that end, he said, the army had commenced the implementation of the “extensive operational , administrative and logistical decisions’’ reached during the 2014 Chief of Army staff Annual Conference.
He said in no distant future, Nigerians would begin to see very positive results in terms of security, particularly in the North-East and the nation.

If u like have his credentials or not I still welcome Buhari as my president fuck u pdp we need change
ReplyDeleteDue proceess please
DeleteHe will become the president of your village if he does not provide his certificates, we will protest against it even if he wins
Deleteu are a big fool
DeleteBABA GMB has no qualification and consequently is not qualified to contest. As a matter of fact he must be disqualified if he wins the election. If APC is a sensible party, GMB should be replaced now. The earlier the better.
DeleteSo Buhari attended two (2) secondary schools.
ReplyDeleteA letter from the principal of his school (secondary) to the Military school (secondary).
The questions are:
1. Did the military school admitted him?
2. If they did, has he finished?
3. If he finished, who are the custodians of his secondary school records?
4. If he was engaged into NDA from the Military school, what was the criteria used?
What is really happening with our Military Institution?
A hausa Fulani man does not need to go to school before joining the army. The rule governing the enlistment of a northerner and a southerner is different. That is why the north wants the presidency at all cost to protect the status quo
Deletethank you for saying this truth
Deletesay no to buhari, say no to boko haram.say no to ilitrate for d future of our children.
ReplyDeleteMonkey u are. Buhari does not qualify to contest let us be truthful and sincere
ReplyDeleteEven if he no go school at all is still better of those that go and have nothing to offer.
ReplyDeleteHe will be better for your village if he does not provide his certificates.
DeleteThe other day you claimed that the army has his certificate and that if he want it he should apply and now you are claiming you don't have it. You guys are dancing to tones of the Oga at the top. We have passed the certificate issue, if you have any problems with his certificate go to court and challenge it not by saying it. Tell PDP to address the national issues not certificate, and they can challenge the certificate in court if the want to see his certificate.
ReplyDeletePDP is really afraid of Buhari.
GMB . Save our country from this embarrassment. CHANGE is a movement. We want to make it a way of life. But it cannot be built on falsehood. Did you sit for the wasc exam or not? Did you pass with credits or not? If you cannot find the certificate apply for a certified true copy.
ReplyDeleteM A get ur facts right buhari was a major wen NDA was created
ReplyDeleteIf the Nigerian Military really said the above, then it's double-speaking!
ReplyDeleteFELLOW NIGERIANS, GEJ AND pdp STARTED MANIPULATING OUR MILITARY INSTITUTION TOO! LET US RESIST THEM COMPLETELY TO SAVE OUR BELOVED COUNTRY FROM TOTAL COLLAPSE. ARISE NIGERIANS AND CHASE pdp AND GEJ OUT OF ASO ROCK COME FEBRUARY 14. VOTE FOR BUHARI IS A BLESSED ASSURANCE!
you are very stupid.
DeleteBefore
Deletewe chase GEJ/PDP, first lets follow due process, Buhari should present
his certificate first if not even if he wins the court of law will stil
collect it back and give it to GEJ/PDP
My man you can't be a supporter for supporting sake or because of ethnicity. This is a very big country with many intellectuals we are talking about. What is hard in him proving his certificate if he has any?? What are you resisting?? Are you resisting to present your certificates to become a president of this big country?? You are only interested in chasing GEJ and PDP but you don't want to follow legal process...WHY?
DeleteThe don't know that is a big shame to them, he rose the rank of major General b4 he left now he has no certificate. pls stop fooling us we are not not a fool. Buhari is our president
ReplyDeletewho were the ones controling the military then? Were they not the northerners? They can go to extramiles to promote him with or without certificate
DeleteBuhari shd go and manage his cows pls, bloody testy terrorist
ReplyDeleteImagine a man of integrity that has ruled Nigeria b4 and His successors confirmed how genuine this man His, they said he plans to Islamize Nigeria yet Pastors confirm His ambitions.
ReplyDeleteI myself can't take these. This Man (SIR GENERAL MUHAMMAD BUHARI) has really been Ridicule.
I must, for the first time in my Life, Vote for You. I've gotten my PVC.
Don't forget this your so called 'Man of integrity, ruled Nigeria because he took power by force. Therefore, your concept of integrity becomes questionable here.
DeleteMumu, coupe de tat is allowed. I swear PDP don manya, dem dey fear peices
DeleteNigerians play politics with every facet of national lives. Last time the military claimed to have GMB credentials now there is a twist. This is an indictment on the integrity of Nigeria military if they say that due process was not followed in recruiting the General. It has been a well known fact that no one can rose to such height as the General without meriting it. Again I wish to state the NDA is a degree awarding insttitutuon which is better than some universities in Nigeria so certificates of its graduates can not be questioned. Therefore, the General is educationally qualified enough to lead. My vote must definitely go for him as he represents integrity, it doesn't matter how of his age. Since a young man could not do it after six years it is time to try older man.
ReplyDeleteYou are a fool at 40 and you will always remain a fool forever.........You are just a disgrace to this name your bearing......Since your talking about integrity, what is so difficult for your father Buhari to present the copies of the required certificate and end this shame he is putting himself and his supporters......Fool
DeleteWhy didn't GMB go to WAEC board and apply for another copy of his certificate if indeed he did sat for WASC? The military has checked his records and didn't find any copy whether original of photocopy of his credentials. It is a known fact that northerners don't need all these things to enlist in the army, he got a confirmation from a principal, why didn't the principal issue him with a statement of result? Even if the didn't have his records any more, he should go to WAEC board otherwise, this a criminal offence.
ReplyDeleteGTB, save yourself, your fellow uncircumcised northerners , your fellow abokis, your fulani kinsmen this ignominy and bow out. This country is bigger than your ignoramus ambition. This is what we are trying to stop, we are trying to make everyone literate as much as possible and now you are trying to bring us back walai k achieve. It can't happen. Go take care of your cattle.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...
ReplyDeleteI don't sympathize with Buhari, but as far as I'm concerned Jonathan is a sadistic liar. He's only concerned about winning the election & nothing else.
I pray God guides us aright.
Well, I consider to beleiving the Military because in the 60's occupying positions in Nigeria was mostly based on nepotism and not on merit. If this be the case, could it be that the man of intergrity, GMB, did not write WAEC and was enrolled into the Army via favouritism? Could it be he's been lieing? If he really wrote WAEC and lost his certificate, why can't he contact WAEC Office for back up? Be that as it may, if he's not a School Cert holder and manages to become president, is this not a shame to Nigerians before the International Community? Dear Sir GMB, for the seek of integrity and the image of Nigeria, if you know you did not meet the minimum academic requirement for the office of the President (O'level Cert hoder), as a patroitic citizen, please kindly step down now! God bless Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteCan somebody read the consitution on this issue it said "school cert or its equivalent." PDP should go to court if they think he is not qulified. Please can we stop this drama!!! or do you want a mumu president to rule for ten year!!!
ReplyDeleteAll these years Buhari has been contesting, certificate matter no comot o, as PDP don see fire, dem dey find any means to bring d main man down, if una like make una say him na Recrruit sef not a Major General, e still no matter, e just dey pain me say I no see PVC collect, I for vote Buhari 2times
ReplyDeleteThat's why politics is regarded as a dirty game. The politicians lie over and over such that the lie tends to look like truth. This is all fallacy. Even if he does not have these certificates, the man rose through ranks in Nigeria Army and even travelled abroad for studies. He was a general in Nigerian army and a one time head of State. Hmm, politics. In America here, they said Barack Obama who was then a leading candidate for democratic party was not born in the USA. They made almost everybody believe this. High personalities were sponsored and said he was not born in the USA. I think they knew his movement "hope" was becoming a threat to them and they might lose. Barack Obama then shamed them by presenting his birth certificate. They went to the hospital to clarify this and yet they said he was not born in the USA. Then Americans knew they were all stupid and only wanted to distract citizens from the real campaign issues. Obama could not be charged to court because it's all politics. I want to believe that if it's true GMB did not have these certifcates, these foolish people would have taken him to court ever since. This is a man who led Nigeria as Head of State and even contested for the position of presidency 3x before now and nothing like this ever came up. Nigeria is a joke. Even for army authority to allow themsselves to be used in this manner is disgraceful. I sense the Army knows what they are doing. Mark my word, I hope and pray we don't go back to where we were before May 29, 1999. We all need to be careful, serious and prayerful. In reality, what has certificate got to do with integrity and sincerity. In fact, JEG's Ph.D. certificate and others should be crutrinised. What has he achieved with his Ph.D degrss when it comes to leadership qualities. This is all trash. I am pissed off. They know their end has come. Recently they said he's sick. Femi Fani-Kayode even said that for each rally, GMB should run/jog round the stadium before he addresses his supporters. What a shame and desperation on PDP. By the special grace of God, His will will be prevailed and ordinary Nigerians will be liberated. Enough is enough!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
