President Goodluck Jonathan and his ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday officially opened their campaign towards next month’s presidential and governorship elections in Lagos, with a vow to emerge victorious at the polls.
The president and all PDP state governors made the declaration at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
In his opening remarks, Ahmadu Ali, the Director of the Jonathan-Sambo Campaign Organisation, said that the PDP, unlike the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, belongs to all Nigerians.
“The PDP is not the exclusive preserve of an individual who has turned Lagos into a cow to be milked,” said Mr. Ali.
Tunji Shelle, Chairman, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos State, on Thursday said the impressive turnout at the party’s rally in Lagos indicated support for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Mr. Shelle was quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, as saying that the transformation agenda of the Jonathan administration should be allowed to continue.
“President Jonathan, despite security challenges being faced by the nation, has performed well in all sectors of the Nigerian economy.
“The crowd here today is not just party members but Nigerians who believe that Jonathan, his team and the PDP have done well and will do better,” he said.
The party later presented its flags to the governorship candidates of the respective states.

I don't see thousand of followers. Actually the photographer did a good job cropping the picture to show a small section where there few people and cleverly avoid a wider-angle view that would have shown empty seats. Moreover, I know the few crowds there were rented. I just hope they pay up afterwards to avoid fights.
ReplyDeleteBad belle! Get ready to hug transformer soonest.
DeleteDid you have cable in your house at all? You would have watched the mammoth crowd this afternoon on AIT and The Channels Televisions.
DeleteI wonder, I watched it live on both AIT and channels tv. There were thousands of people actually and if it pains any one please rent your own crowd the next your boko haram, almost dead Buhari does his rally! Stop the bad belle, Jonathan actually still have millions of supporters!
DeleteIf you were not able to see many people, at least you can see many hausa caps to show that your brothers are following GEJ openly.
ReplyDeleteObasanjo done more than that and he failed eko koni baje o.
ReplyDeleteExcept for the illiteracy of this nation, Jonathan should not get more than 10 votes. Corruption, theft, 80% unemployment among the young and University graduates, no water, no electricity, no hope! Who ever would look at these unmanufactured facts and give this man a vote. This is a chance for Nigeria to change direction and look elsewhere for a future. The President says he does not give a damn. If he does not give a damn, why should we give a damn about voting for him? Any one that votes for Jonathan in February must be a mad man or a mad woman.
ReplyDeleteyou are already mad even before elections proper, I pity you because you might go stack naked picking dirt on the street after the elections! plz hug a transformer!
DeleteEven the governor of Niger state, Babangida Aliyu or so said it openly that if you are not a liar, you should not join politics. Yet the illiterates in Niger state will vote for him. This is the caliber of people that PDP presents to govern Nigeria: thieves. liars, and corrupt animals. That is why the country is dead and Jonathan delivered the Coup de grace over the past six years. Throw the thieves out! On Buhari we stand! Southern supporter.
ReplyDeleteThey came to see their failed president for the last time. I hopw they pay for the services. Nigerians are suffering. We want change.
ReplyDeleteThey are paid now...this is not vote
