Omirin asked me for Xmas gift — Fayose

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose yesterday said that the factional Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Omirin recently called him on phone asking for Christmas gifts for himself and other All Progressives Congress, APC, members currently shut out of the Assembly by minority Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members.

He further said he refused to give them; directing them to collect the gifts from the governor or speaker of the State currently habouring them.

This is coming just as he predicted that the forthcoming Presidential election in the country would be turbulent, but assured that the incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan would be re-elected as the President of the country in the February election.

Speaking to aviation reporters at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos on his arrival from abroad, Fayose explained that the forthcoming presidential election would generate reactions if any of the two major contestants wins, but warned that no one has the monopoly of violence.

According to him; “The speaker just called me recently and asked for their Christmas gifts, I told him they should collect it from Lagos and Osun state governments or the speaker of those states. But in my state, you were elected by some people and the people had read out the riot act to them that they will not come and destabilize the state. If you attempt it, the power of the people will rise against you because their power is higher than those of us who are in power.”

On the crisis in Ekiti State House of Assembly, Fayose insisted that some members decided to stay away from their duties and said he would not appeal to them to come back, but maintained that any attempt to cause crisis in the state would be rejected by the people.

  1. These APC members of the state assembly are foolish, knowing fully well that their tenure will expire on 29-may-2015, did they take any oath to die unreasonably for their party irrespective of whether what they are doing is right or wrong? I wonder what is in this APC.

  3. To ask for xmas gift is not too bad but they (APC lawmakers) should know they were voted into the office by Ekitians not Lagosian therefore, they should put sentiment aside and perform their legislative duties.
