President Goodluck Jonathan says his administration has transformed the railway system, adding that the people of Lagos now enjoy train rides in air-conditioned coaches.
The President said this in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Jonathan, who described the feat as a ‘silent revolution’ promised that his administration would do more in the coming years.
He said, “A silent revolution is taking place in Lagos. Every day, thousands of Lagosians are escaping the hustle and bustle of Lagos traffic by traversing the mainland in the new air condition Diesel Multiple Unit trains.
“These trains were introduced by my administration as a fore taste of our plan to develop an inter-city and intra-city high speed train network for Lagos. The Federal Government has already signed a $1.5bn contract for the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan Express Train.
“This project, when completed, will make it possible to live in Ibadan and work in Lagos. This is progressing simultaneously with the $12bn Lagos-Calabar coastal rail project. This project is 1,402km long and will link Lagos to Calabar with stops at cities along the route. We have good plans for Lagos, plans that will ensure that Lagos continues to be the centre of excellence and a pride to Nigeria.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

ReplyDeleteJonathan May Not be the Best, But He has Done What Past Leaders Could Not Do. - Alhaji Shehu Shagari. The first Executive president of Nigeria Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari has broken his silence after 32years of overthrown by Maj General Muhammadu Buhari In his rare interview with AIT news reporter in Sokoto state yesterday and the former President said as below: "Jonathan may not be the best, but I can mention 3 to 4 breakthrough in Nigeria that occurred under his 5 years in office "Under Jonathan's administration, train is back in Nigeria after about 30yrs of neglect. In fact, my 27 years old grandchild boarded train for the first time in his life in 2014. His Administration is the first Government to construct over 125 modern Almajiri schools and 12 Universities in a short frame of time. He is also first Nigerian leader to construct cargo Airports & ensure all zone in Nigeria has an International airport. His Administration is also the first Nigerian government to eradicate the high level corruption in the distribution of fertiliser and ghost workers . And the very first Government to start diversifying Nigeria, economy back to agriculture after Nigeria lost its agricultural glory in the 70s. Now I may ask Nigerians, what are Buhari's developmental strides as Nigerian Head of State?" Your Answer is as good as Mine, NONE for his whole time in office
U guys are as clueless as ur Oga! He took money worth a speed train from d nation and giving u refurbished locomotive train and u are here talking gibberish. Just pray for ur life to be d way Oga has been running our country in d last six yrs. bunch of jokers
ReplyDeleteAction speaks louder than voice ,GEJ has not been making noise about his achievement like all these state governors who do one KM road and put bill board everywhere,GEJ is a silent achiever and now that all the Bad eggs in PDP have drifted to APC ,he will do far more better ,
ReplyDeleteGEJ is working!
ReplyDeleteFirstly, the contract has not been signed.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, the budgeted contract sum is TOO much for the locomotive train while it is more than enough to construct Metro train.
l lived and worked abroad as a Planning Engineer and must say that it is highly too much for such project.
Lastly, GEJ talk about Nigerian should not vote for people that will take us back and l think he is that person because l wonder why GEJ wanted to construct such old pattern train in this era.
He still live in the past and dwelling in the past
When all of you have not seen better thing before, why wouldn't you say GEJ is working, is this the type of train ur mates are using in 2014, in d 21st century, mumu people
ReplyDeleteI don't know if others who had comented has seen the train, l think mr president needs to apologies to us lagosian for insulting us. If l may ask mr president atleast you have travel to Dubai close bye here? Not a western country is that the kind of train you see? I was even chocked when l learnt that price per trip is 750naira. Mr president can you really called that thing l saw an achievement? If yes is your answer then my response to you is sorry.
ReplyDeleteIs N750 per trip on one journey that can't take you from your doorstep to your office gate what our former president calls achievement? Can an average Nigerian afford this luxury of 1500 on one part of a trip of going to work and back for 30 days? That's 45,000 per month on one part of a journey. What does this man take us for?
