Kogi State Government To Prosecute Officials Involved In Exam Fees Fraud

Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, said on Wednesday that the state government will prosecute officials involved in the inflation of WAEC examination fees for final year secondary school students in the state.

The governor, who spoke shortly after inspecting work on some projects in Lokoja, said the officials had inflated the money paid by the state government to the West Africa Examination Council, from N230m to N500m.

He said those involved in the scam would be duly punished as soon as investigation was concluded.

According to him, the scam is what made the government to temporarily stop the payment of the WAEC fees.

Wada, however said the government would reimburse parents who paid for their wards after the issue was conclusively addressed.

The governor, who marked three years in office, said all ongoing roads, housing and health projects across the state would be completed on time.

He said that the projects were designed to enhance the welfare of the people.
Earlier, the governor in a state-wide broadcast said his administration had laid solid foundation for the growth and development of the state

According to him, large chunk of the state resources have been committed to providing vital infrastructure which have impacted positively on the lives of the people.

He thanked the people for their support and understanding, urging them to continue to live in peace and shun violence before, during and after the forthcoming general election.
