President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday expressed the hope of a woman becoming Nigeria’s president in his life time.
Jonathan, who said this at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential rally in Abakaliki, Ebonyi, noted that women in the country were intelligent and hard working.
He insisted that women should be encouraged to participate in governance, especially politics.
“My hope is that a female will one day occupy the position of the president of this country.
“I will also like to see Nigerian women who have distinguished themselves in their various field make more global impact,’’ he said.
Jonathan, who commended women for supporting PDP, solicited their support by voting for him in the Feb. 14 presidential poll.
Similarly, the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, who addressed women at the campaign, urged them to vote for the president as “one of their own”.
“Nigerian women, you cannot exchange your own for another.
“You must belong to a place or group where you are accorded full recognition.
“And PDP is that place; we have no other party,” she said. (NAN) Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Let's address the biggest problem that threatens the country today - corruption and unemployment, not about a woman becoming Nigeria's President. First things first, Mr. President. After all, our women have proven to be as corrupt as our men, so what difference does it make if you don't cure a major underlying problem that mitigates against Nigeria's development?

I think APC has a hidden religious agenda..Be guided people!
ReplyDeleteShare to all Christian you know to vote wisely. I will not want my children to live in a Nigeria where they cannot worship their GOD!
Mr. President, why don't you worry about your own job which you have failed woefully to do. A woman becoming President is not our most urgent need. I know you are trying to get female votes, but don't do it by making promises over something that you have no control over. You are confusing us: today you say there is no corruption in Nigeria, tomorrow you say you are going to fight corruption if re-elected. Can you please stop lying or do you agree with the PDP governor of Niger state who says that if you are not ready to tell lies, you should not be in politics?
