IG redeploys Mbu to oversee elections in Lagos, Ogun

Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the Police High Command has redeployed Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, former AIG Zone 7, Abuja and former Commissioner of Police to Lagos as the AIG in charge of Zone 2 comprising Lagos and Ogun States.
The Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has redeployed 14 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to various departments, zonal commands and formations of the Force.
The AIG Zone 1, Kano, Tambari Muhammed was retained in his formation, while AIG Joseph Mbu in charge of Zone 7, Abuja, was redeployed to Lagos where he would oversee next month’s general elections.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, in Abuja on Tuesday, said that the redeployment was on account of the promotion of some senior officers and vacancies occasioned by retirements.
The redeployments are with immediate effect.
Those affected by the exercise include Aderenle Shinaba, recently promoted to AIG but redeployed to Zone 4,Makurdi; Johnson Ogunsakin (Training & development) now redeployed to Zone 6,Calabar; Patrick Dokumor (NIPSS,Jos) posted to Zone 7,Abuja; Ikemefuna Okoye from Ogun State to Zone 11, Osogbo and Kalafite Adeyemi (Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos) transferred to Maritime FHQ.
Also redeployed are Jubrin Adeniji (Maritime FHQ) to 2i/C FCID, FHQ; Olufemi Adenaike, from NIPPSS,Jos to AIG Training, FHQ; Lawal Tanko (Federal operations) redeployed to Police Mobile Force, FHQ,Abuja; and Ballah Nasarawa, from AIG Intelligence to PSC,Jos.
Others are Umaru Manko, who was transferred from Zone 2, Lagos to NIPSS Kuru, Jos and Irimiya Yerima from NIPSS to AIG Communication, FHQ, Abuja; Mark Idakwo from Zone 6 Calabar to Federal Operations, Abuja.
Those who were retained in their zones and formations are Mohammed Abubakar, Zone 3, Yola; Musa Daura, Zone 5, Benin; Christopher Dega, Zone 8,Lokoja; Usman Gwarry, Zone 9, Umuahia; Bala Hassan, Zone 10,Sokoto; Mohammed Gana, Zone 12, Bauchi and Sule Mamman, AIG Force Secretary, Abuja.
Others are Adisa Bolanta, Police Academy; Edgar Nanakumo, Force Animal Branch; Sabo Ibrahim, Border patrol; Wilfred Obute, Armament FHQ; Ibrahim Maishanu, Force Info-tech; Yahaya Ardo, CTU,Abuja and Buhari Tanko, Special Duty.
The statement said, “While charging the officers to bring their experience to bear on their new postings and be more service-oriented in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, the IG urged the public to partner closely with the force in its determination to ensure improved safety and security of our country.”
