Hoodlums attack Ebonyi APC, APGA offices

Offices of the All Progressives Congress and the All Progressives Grand Alliance have come under attack in parts of Ebonyi State.

It was gathered that there was an unsuccessful attempt to bomb the APC office in Abakaliki on Sunday night, with objects suspected to be improvised explosive devices.

However, the APGA office in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state was destroyed, along with houses of some members of the party.

Eye witnesses alleged that those who attacked the APGA office, and the houses of members of the party, wore police uniforms.

The identity of the persons behind the attacks is still unknown, but the the Police Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi State Police Command, Mr. Chris Anyanwu, who confirmed the failed bombing of the APC office, said the police has launched investigations into the attacks, and would soon apprehend the perpetrators.

In the meantime, senior police officers, including the area commander, and the divisional police officer in charge of Kpirikpiri Road police station, were at the scene on Monday, as well as the police bomb disposal unit.

The APC governorship candidate, Ucha, urged the Inspector General of Police to order a thorough investigation into the incident.

He also urged his supporters to remain law abiding.

In the same vein, the APGA governorship candidate in the state, Senator Anthony Agbo, has condemned destruction of the party’s office, as well as the houses of some members, in Ohaukwu.
According to him, “These agents of destabilisation in company of over 20 policemen, attacked the houses of some members in this area.

“They burnt the party’s office and destroyed several properties such as furniture and posters, as the policemen who wore police vests and wielded AK 47 rifles, shot at the houses of our members.”
The APGA governorship candidate added that “it is clear that the forces of good and evil are presently competing for the soul of Ebonyi.”

He however explained that the party is yet to report the attack to the police, but will do so once the chairman, who is away in Abuja, returns to the state.
