Fashola blasts Jonathan: 'Get out of the kitchen, if it is becoming too hot for you'

The Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, SAN, on Thursday took a swipe at President Goodluck ‎Jonathan, for blaming past leaders for the problems facing the country and his administration, advising him to “get out of the kitchen, if it is becoming too hot for him.”

Fashola spoke during the mobilisation visit of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign held at Imaguero College in Benin, Edo State.

The governor also berated the President, whom he said had shown anger about Nigeria’s problems and blamed “everybody,” during the commencement of the presidential campaign of the People’s Democratic Party in Lagos on Thursday, without proffering solutions.

He said the February 14 presidential election would centre on the assessment of the president in his six years in office, noting that unlike the PDP, the presidential‎ candidates of the APC had provided viable solutions to the myriad of problems facing the country in three weeks.

He said, “I spent about an hour this afternoon listening to the President in my state and, for almost the same period, I saw a very angry president. I saw a president who was recriminating ab‎out people criticising his job performance and was blaming all those who ruled before him, forgetting that he had been on this job for six years.

“And he kept saying that, ‘They say we don’t have a plan.’‎ But for 25 minutes, he did not reveal a plan on power; he did not reveal a plan on security; he did not reveal a plan on corruption.

“Now, after six years, without being able to articulate what he is doing and what he will do and he keeps blaming everybody, forgetting that he is the Commander-in-Chief, if the kitchen is too hot, as it is becoming of late, you must get out of the kitchen.”

The governor also assured Nigerians that, drawing from the developmental success recorded by the APC states, Nigeria could be better, if the right kind of people managed the nation’s resources.‎

The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, ‎lamented that while many Nigerians languished in poverty, some of their leaders were only interested in their personal interest.

Oshiomhole, who recalled that the nation’s past leaders had provided infrastructure not based on ethnicity or religion but on the basis of developing the country, challenged Nigerians to choose the path they desired.

He said, “So, no more lamentation, we have got to choose whether to continue to say, ‘God dey’ or to recognise that God gave us everything and he didn’t and he didn’t ask us just to rely on him for manner to drop from heaven.

“In 2015, Nigerians must make a decision, today, to interrogate those who will drive those changes so that your children don’t inherit a culture and tradition of lamentation.”

Vice presidential candidate of the party, Prof Yemi Osinbajo,‎ stated that the APC presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, was known for his stand on corruption.

He added that an APC-led Federal Government would revive the nation’s power sector by encouraging the establishment of more independent power projects, as alternative sources to ensure 24 hours of power supply to different parts of the country.

“In solving our power problems, we have to ensure that we do something about the cost of gas. We need to rewrite the regulation so that many, who are producing can make some money from their gas, as an incentive to supply gas,” he said.

    1. This is the second person saying he called the president a fool, i have gone back to see where he did, but he never used such words.

Now i understand why we are where we are in Nigeria, many of us always react with sentiments and see things that are not there.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with criticizing the president and he did not call him a fool.

  7. APC has been blaming the President from inception. They blame the president as if there are not citizens of this country. A patriotic Nigerian should first love his country and hes president , help proffer solutions or strategies that will help her become great not criticizing every step the she is making all in the name of selfless politics. Although we all agree that Jonathan has not done very well but i can not see a single candidate that can do better than what Jonathan has already done. Jonathan will rule again till 2019. Whether like it or not. APC should stop deceiving the Nigeria populace we are wiser than that. We are saying we don't believe in God fatherism but democracy is what we believe un.

  9. Wait oo, did Obasanjo ever blame opposition for any issue during his time? People are sentimental to the extent that they support rubbish. call a spade a spade. When APC takes over. Watch how they run the government. this blame game is sooooo childish.

  10. Obasanjo did not blame anybody for any issue because the blame game was not prevalent in Obsanjo's regime as it is now. The truth of the matter is, APC were drastically beaten in the last election that the pains of loosing still lingers in their mind. Their heart is filled with bitterness. They want power by all means, they are too ruthless, rude over ambitious for liking. They have so damage their image and reputation from the words that comes out from thier mouth, in the very eyes of the Nigerian populace. I see them not nearing presidency for like a decade to come. They first of all need a proper reorientation and the true doctrines of leadership for them to lead country. The adoption of the so called Man of God (Osibanjo) is not enough to do the cleansing in APC.

  11. People should read every news item correctly before commenting. Fashola did not use any abusive word on the president. Criticism is the beauty of democracy. Moreover Mr president has not done well to merit second term so re electing him will be like promoting a student who failed examination. Second tenure is meant to reward a performing leader. I am surprised that in his speech he failed to articulate his performance meaning that his score card is very poor. The president's speech was about blaming others instead of defending his record I guess he knew there is no record to defend so he felt the best thing is to attack past leaders. What spectacular thing has this man done in the past six years ?. please.

  26. GEJ talks about Plans. I think the budget should represent the Plans. Achievement is determine by Planned Vs Actual. He has not mentioned anything from this point of view. Failure is failure and he has failed. Even the minister could not defend the budget sometimes ago before the committee with details of some of the achievement claimed achieved such as Sure P, Roads constructed etc. Same at Abuja in his declaration speech.
Actual represent NOW and Now does not represent the Planned. That is Failure.
Am not a against GEJ but talking from a professional point of view as a Planning Engineer.

  27. Fashola why did you close down part time studies of LASU without issuing graduands certificate. Is this caused by the president or PDP. Why are you claiming you are a saint when you are none. Fashola, Tinubu picked you as his successor but were you able to pick your successor? Yet you are opening your mouth to talk nonsense on this place and abusing the president. I will see what you will do come february 14 when GEJ will win re-election to rule you and your foolishness again.

  28. Fashola is a fool. You just a SAN for nothing. Or you think cos u r SAN nobody can touch u. May God punish you GEJ return as President, na ur yansh they go first burn. One question, is/are your child(ren) schooling in Nigeria? Please tell us ooo. Ass hole like u
