Fani-Kayode blasts INEC, says Buhari is above the law

Femi-Fani Kayode, Director of Publicity, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation has berated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for trying to cover General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

Fani-Kayode alleged that Buhari, was not qualified to contest the forthcoming presidential election because he has failed to submit his first School Leaving Certificate to INEC and should therefore be disqualified from contesting the February 14 presidential election.

“It must be stated that INEC erred in law by publishing the name of a candidate without receiving the personal particulars of the candidate within seven days of receiving his nomination forms as indicated in Section 31(3),” Fani-Kayode said.

“This is indeed a tragedy illustrating what Nigeria has become – that an individual is so powerful that the law has to be ignored to accommodate him.

“Certainly, INEC’s printing of nomination forms or High Court affidavits is in no way or by any stretch of definitions, the same as personal particulars such as school leaving certificate,” he said.'

He said what was more tragic, was the fact that two respected western political elites were in the vanguard of promoting and defending Buhari “in this rape of the Nigerian Constitution.”

He said from available records, Buhari had consistently perpetuated “this contempt and disdain for due democratic process in a serial form since the beginning of this democratic dispensation.”

He said the trend was an indication that the country`s democracy was in trouble because it was now “the rule of men and not the rule of law”.
Fani-Kayode noted that academic qualification was an issue that could not be waived for any citizen, irrespective of his position and religion except as provided by the constitution.

  4. Oga Fani. I like your writings and I enjoy your style. I will love to read more from you in the future. But for now, put your pen in your pocket. Take your side or get on the sidelines. Your writings are unnecessary now and they are highly political and ill motivated. Keep quiet and let us decide. You know in your heart the truth. What amazes me the most and why I like you is this: what you write struggles to fit perfectly to (contradicts) the truth in your heart. That makes you magical. You will be better as a social critic without a political affiliation. That is where you belong. I'm a Yoruba so don't think I'm tribal. Enough is enough!!! You can write after the election result. The youths are watching, our eyes are opened! Don wo lobo Iya okere! This must be the freest election in the history of the world!

  5. Fani Kayode, you are no longer a columnist. You are Jonathan's campaign director, according to what we have read. So, nothing that you write will any longer be taken seriously. Focus on campaign strategy, not on writing about Buhari, because your writing won't make any difference. Likewise Okonji-Iweala. None of her bloated numbers and talks about Nigeria being the largest economy will any longer be taken seriously, since she is now Jonathan's campaign leader also.

  6. This is the fourth time Buhari will contest an election, why are you seeking for disqualification on a trivial issue? Are you people so scared of him? It is so obvious. FFK kill yourself if you are so pained.

    1. People just comment without actually reasoning, or they reason from their anus! When I read some comments by some illiterate bunkums, I come very close to tears. Are you saying just because he did not represent certificate in his last failed (serial failure) election, he should also not represent in this one? So what is the change, improvement and upgrading we are all making a hell of noise about, if what was accepted six or four years ago should also be
accepted today! I weep for Nigerians! we are bunch of confused people. Its a very simple and straight forward case, let him show any certificate he has or simply say he has non! Am 100% sure some idiots and illiterates like himself will still cast their vote for him, which is no problem at all!

  7. FFK should shut up 4 good. He has disgraced his followers and sensibility of Nigerians by returning to his vomit. We have records of his insults and condemnation of d present govt. It's clear now that all that was cos he was shut out of d system and not cos he has concern for d masses.

  10. This is Nig prob, the progressives and conservatives,GMB and his people are conservatives, they preach change only to remove GEJ not because they expect any progress,we know many of them who are in Govt today without any school,it's God father ism syndrome just like GMB who has been benefitingfrom it all through his military carrier just like Obama, who was called monkey and all sorts of name ,the way you know GMB people is that any comment you make ,they start coursing you, they are careless with words and do not listed to reason in fact when they see any statement not supporting GMB,they will not wait to read to the end before they start insulting you, just which the trend of their comment and ideology, very unrefined like their master, these are the promoters of military rule, who only gets to power by military fiat whether they are qualified or not,am sure with GMB all the almajiris will become Nigerian ministers and perm secs, let him show His certificate,He says its with the military, they can bring it and come to talk of it ,why has no body gone to court to challenge INEC by now ,this is curruption, getting what you are not qualified to have by intimidation.
