The National Youth Service Corps in Kano state has re-assured corps members who wish to work as ad-hoc staff in the February elections of adequate security.
The state NYSC coordinator, Mr Sanusi Abdulrashid, gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano on Friday.
He said that the national headquarters of NYSC would collaborate with various security agencies and INEC to ensure that all those participating in the exercise were given adequate security.
He added that though several corps members had indicated their willingness to participate in the elections, the directorate was yet to ascertain their exact number.
“We don’t know the specific number of corps members that will participate in the elections for now,” Abdulrashid said, adding that participation in the exercise was optional for all corps members deployed to the state.
“The application to participate in the conduct of the election is online registration and it is the wish of a corp member to participate or not.
“For now INEC is in a better position to know the exact number of corps members who applied for the election duty,” he said. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
