As Nigerians anticipate the February 2015 general elections, political gladiators have started throwing jabs at eachother in a bid to run-down/demoralize opponents.
It is no secret that candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari has been severally accused of being a religious bigot. Some have even accused him of nursing the ambition to Islamise Nigeria if he becomes President of the country.
But his camp has denied such claims, accusing the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) of using the religious card to deceive many Nigerians.
Buhari recently attended a thanksgiving service in Lagos at the Redeemed Christian Church of God with his running mate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, who is a pastor at RCCG. He was criticised for it and labelled a pretender by some of his critics.
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s aide on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, has also joined those who have mocked Buhari on the issue.

It's really not funny that Buhari has suddenly fallen in love with both Western dressing & Christian religion all in his desperation to get more votes. But Nigerians aren't fools. Kindly show us pictures in the past of Buhari in a church or wearing a suit. Is that not propaganda to show us he is not pro-north? Pls let APC stick to his integrity as a selling point. But his non - partisanship towards CHRISTIANS and the South is questionable.
ReplyDeleteAnd please what is wrong in a man trying to dispel impressions about himself especially when he feels they are wrong. It is called re-branding and every product goes through this. I would be more impressed if rather than defend a glaring decadence, Okupe helps re-brand it and tell us there is every intention to change and improve.

DeleteI am a Christian and i can tell u that christians are bloody hypocrites! look at the menace that this so-called christian led government and look at Lagos state governed by a muslim, can't u tell d huge difference? we take God for granted, yet we are so fast to judge other religions and beliefs, why? most christians don't live a life worthy of emulating, maybe their ways of life would have won other religions over, but no, they are the ones too quick to mention God in every conversation, but too fast to lie or swindle you! Look at how Oritsejafor has reduced our religion to a mere political party, akin to PDP. is dis wat the life of Christ is/ was all about? about the gains only and so much lies? even Jesus knew better and dissociated himself from all dos hypocrites who were playing demi gods in synagogues but didn't even recognise that he was the messiah. I can count very few Christians who are yet spiritual and lead a life of Christ, the greater population are all deception, a facade! so my brethren, let's not play holy here. Let the best candidate win, whether atheist, hindus, muslim or anything, cos i have seen atheist who are better in conscience than the so-called christians.
