Beware of Obasanjo’s banana peel - Fayose warns

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has warned Nigerians to be wary of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s intention on who should be elected president in the February 14 election.

Fayose said the North deserved to present a better candidate and not “old horse like the All Progressive Congress Presidential candidate, General Mohammadu Buhari, whose state of health is a concern to all Nigerians.”

In a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, the governor said Obasanjo should also be watched for his romance with some leaders in the APC despite claiming to be a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party.

“Nigerians should be wary of Obasanjo’s banana peel. He was the one who put forward Umar Yar ‘Adua as the president knowing the man’s state of health and the man died in office. He was the one who said President Goodluck Jonathan was the best for Nigeria and that without him there would be no Nigeria.

“The question people should ask former President Obasanjo is what has gone wrong between now and then? He is against President Jonathan because the President refused to be pocketed by him and any Nigerian leader who wants to succeed will not allow that.

“Obasanjo is now presenting General Muhammadu Buhari as the best candidate for Nigeria knowing the man’s age and that the pressure of office would be too much for him,” he said.

Fayose said Obasanjo only wanted to plunge Nigeria into needless crisis, just like he did during the Yar ‘Adua era.

“In the North, there are so many qualified, brilliant and credible people who can rule the country well. Why is Obasanjo going after an old horse that may collapse mid way. Nigerians should know the state of health of Buhari. His age and health cannot stand the rigours of the office. Nigerians deserve to know the health status of Buhari.

“The strange love between Obasanjo and Tinubu is like a lion and a goat living together in the same house. Jonathan should be allowed to complete his term and after that the North will be allowed to present credible candidate in 2019, not an old horse being put forward,” the governor added.

  1. Fayose is a smart boy, give him food. He will sing for you. How are you even sure you will not die before Buhari, or are you God. Calling Buhari an old horse is unlike if a well mannered yoruba guy as a well brought up of us will respect elders and will never call them names. This shows your upbringing.

  3. Certainly his problem is not lack of home training but that of refusal to be trainned. Won ko, ko gbo eko ni. and it is not is fault. it is the fault of the idiots that voted for him. I am sure he cannot win a Counsellorship election in Osun State.

  7. Fayose is correct OBJ is evil and selfish because GEJ refused to be manipulated by him the reason why is going about saying all sorts of rubbishing and organizing thuggery against Fed Govt.. OBJ, BuHar, BoHar, APC will not succeed. Some people are blindly supporting BH cos he has chosen their kinsmen as VP. Tribalism / ethnocentrism and religious fundamentalism bane of this country.

  8. Who is more rude, flippant and disrespectful than OBJ? Those criticizing Fayose for saying the truth, are just waking up on how OBJ attacks, insults, liars, disrespects everybody and authority. He is the least person who deserve respect in Nigeria Respect they say is reciprocal.
