The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organization on Tuesday hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for joining world leaders in denouncing the killing of 19 French citizens in Paris.
However, the campaign said it was appalling that the President forgot to do the same for families of 150 Nigerians murdered by the Boko Haram sect in Baga, Borno State.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mallam Garba Shehu, Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential campaign.
He noted that the President ought to have shown the same level of compassion and empathy to Nigerians who have suffered similar tragedies at home.
The statement partly read: “Nothing less should be expected of any leader worthy of the name.
“Dr. Jonathan forgot to do the same for the families of Nigerians in Baga, Borno State, where 150, as confirmed by the Spokesman of the military high command, or 2,000 as claimed by the local council chairman, were senselessly killed.
“Nigerians are equally deserving of such soothing words of compassion and empathy.
“These victims of violence are not mere statistics. They are human beings. One dead Nigerian is as good as 150 or 2,000. We urge Mr. President to look inward and bring succour to his own people.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
