The Department of State Services, DSS, has accused the All Progressives Congress of plans to to clone the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC’s database.
Deputy Director, Public Relations at the DSS, Marilyn Ogar, at a briefing in Abuja, disclosed that it recovered a computer hard drives containing a video of 21 hacking tutorials during the raids on the APC office, located on No. 10 Bola Ajibola Street in Ikeja, Lagos State.
Ogar said the tutorial video focused on how to become a hacker and steps to take to avoid detection in the process of hacking web servers.
The DSS spokesperson said the services also discovered that APC registered under-aged persons including several infants and babies, foreigners, security personnel as members of the party.
She recalled that, the DSS received actionable information that a building located at No. 10, Bola Ajibola Street, Ikeja, Lagos, was being used for cloning of INEC Permanent Voters Card (PVC) by some unscrupulous persons with intent to hack into INEC database, corrupt it and replace same with their own data;
“And that upon receiving the said report, the Service immediately took appropriate steps to investigate same by first seeking and obtaining a search warrant as required by law. This is contrary to claims by the APC that the building was accessed illegally.
“On arriving at the building at No. 10, Bola Ajibola Street, Ikeja, Lagos, Officers of this Service found that the building did not have the signpost, banner or flag of any company or political party.”
According to her, “In the course of investigation, the following discoveries were made: a temporary Voters Card; Permanent Voters Card, that one of the hard drives recovered from the building contained a video of twenty-one (21) hacking tutorials.”
She noted that “The tutorial video focused on “How to become a hacker and steps to take to avoid detection in the process of hacking web servers, steps and procedures of system hacking, passwords cracking, decrypting, escalating access privileges, and creating backdoors to servers.
“It also explicitly explained how to evade security of databases such as Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), firewalls, and other measures put in place to deter hackers;
“The video outlined ways to identify vulnerabilities in systems and how to surreptitiously drop a USB flash drive in a target establishment, which when plugged into any computer, transmits malicious codes enough to gain access into and compromise the entire system of the target organization; and
“Finally, the video explains how to hack into the systems of media houses, with the aim of broadcasting fake stories or headlines,” she said.
Ogar said further, “It was also discovered that the APC registered under-aged persons including several infants and babies as members of the party. We know that Article 9.1 of the APC Party Constitution expressly says: “membership of the party shall be open to any citizen of Nigeria who has attained the age of eighteen (18) years and accepts the aims and objectives of the Party … ”
Similarly, the APC registered several security personnel from the Nigerian Army (NA), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) among others, in their uniforms as members of the party;
“Furthermore the APC had multiple registrations of individuals in multiples of 16, 12, and 10;
“Several foreigners were also registered as its members;
“Also, the APC filled forms without passport photographs, and have books containing names of people with their phone numbers;
“Equally discovered were several envelopes containing passport photographs of various individuals;
“From the foregoing, that we suspect there was an elaborate and well articulated plan to inflate the Party’s membership data as well as hack into INEC’s voter registration database through the creation of party membership forms and cards to match INEC’s voters register across the country.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

U and ur pdp ar very stupid!!! apc would not hake bcos dey hv d masses. stop deceivin urself
ReplyDeleteThose of you who comment should be careful on choose of words. Also the greater problem we have is the media that publish any thing without consideration to ethics. I pity Nigeria.
DeleteIt is your mother that is stupid' OK.
DeleteAPC is contesting not only against PDP, but also DSS, Police and Military.
ReplyDeleteQuoting Ogar; From the foregoing, that we suspect there was an elaborate and well articulated plan to inflate the Party’s membership data as well as hack into INEC’s voter registration database through the creation of party membership forms and cards to match INEC’s voters register across the country." DSS action is of course manifesting a clear partisanship and partiality. Same thing happened during the the NPF locked National Assembly gates against APC's members. We have never had it so bad.
Do these force men realize that that " anything that has manufacturing date must definitely has an expiry date?"
Madam you will be more useful in Nolywood team of film Directors than in DSS you are so creative, your film will get market and win Awards. think over it
ReplyDeleteShameless woman which shall see where u will end your life harlot.
ReplyDeleteAPC is A PACK of CORRUPT ideots.
ReplyDelete11.02pm. You need English tutorials
ReplyDeleteThis shameful woman doesnt know that nigerians are very inteligent than she does. stupid
ReplyDeleteMadam Ogar, DSS is gradually loosing the purpose for which it was established. If I'm correct, it's responsibilities are mainly crimes against the Government, terrorism and the likes. However, you have degenerated into investigating crimes that do not concern you. What has DSS got to do with investigating how a dead man's inheritance is shared by his family or a breach of contract between two parties. You need to scrap your ADIS. They are just there clowning about and using their office to intimidate people. All of a sudden, DSS has turned to INEC. How is this a matter of State Security? We are watching.
ReplyDeleteYou don't know how this is a matter of state security?, please stop a JSS 1 student around your vicinity and he or she will enlighten you. I see your emotional support for APC has blinded your thinking faculty. May God help you. He who comes with equity must come with a clean hand!. What was a hard disk containing hacking tutorials doing in the APC data office?, if on the day of election, I did not see my name on the register despite my PVC with me and it become a common occurrence throughout the country, what will be the reaction of Nigeria n's? . Better wake up and face issues without bias!. Your reaction will not change the process,
DeleteIf these are the things revealed by DSS at the press briefing, they I must say the DSS has been turned into a National embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteI would have thought, the DSS should have duly consulted with the Attorney General's office in order to determine what statements will not lead to libel and defamation of character.
When a Country's security outfit makes childish and deliberately inciting statements in order to portray some party in bad light, then you know the Nation really is being led by a CORRUPT GOVERNMENT and CORRUPT PARTY.
I consider the revelations as nothing but flimsy and stupid. They are really unbecoming of a Country's DSS. They are just too childish.
My sincere advise to DSS is that they should please be SERIOUS AND PROFESSIONAL FOR ONCE IN THEIR MISERABLE LIFE.
Ewu....hack tutorial for inec database that's not online. If you want to prevent being hacked..you have to learn the art yourselves. They just stated the state of the nation if our DSS can come with such conclusion.
ReplyDeleteDSS is a strong supporter of PDP. This was boldly demonstrated during Ekiti and Osun states governorship elections when DSS arrested and locked up many opposition leaders a day before the elections, only to release them after the elections without any charge against them. Marylin ogar statement and indeed the whole act of the DSS is their own contribution to Jonathan campaign. Thank God, Nigerians are now wiser, and know what we want for our country. This DSS Nollywood drama will not have any effect on our support for APC and Buhari in particular.
ReplyDeletemrs cameleon u better becareful..
ReplyDeleteI thank God that most Nigerians eyes are beginning to open but I think its not enough , I think its time for us race political talks wherever we found our selves from now till the election and educate the short sighted ones among us and get them so recommended eye glasses so that they can also see and understand what we also know , tell them that we are wise now and no fools anymore our biological parents have made there mistakes thinking and hoping that things will be OK and be better some day without doing nothing and holding these idiots that called there selves politicians to have a free day on us and f..ck us from behind left right and center the way the please but now we say enough is enough. Kubiben SA
ReplyDeleteMarilyn Ogar, we know you as PDP's mouth piece always rattling lies to us. Your days are numbered.
ReplyDeleteto u all did u know y dis country will find it difficult to grow bcz we did nt allowed our security agent to do dia job bcz of d love we have for d people in question, hw many of d people we re fighting for re lacking in anything dey want. it's time we say no to all our politician. hw many of APC or PDP re saying our salary is to be reduce bcz of reduced in oil price bt d capital project can reduce. shine ur eye
ReplyDeleteMadam, well done good work GMB we look into it when he takes over from your Oga Jonathan by feb; thanks for all your effort.
ReplyDeleteThat is good news Madam Marylin, but what about Shekau and Chibok girls were you able to trace them???
ReplyDeleteWell done DSS. This is how desperate politicians will want to undermine and castigate agencies of government because of their naked quest for power. The other day some acted violently attempting to pull down the NASS gate and then shamelessly climbed over the gates like Ojuelegba touts or Jabi touts in Abuja.When security officials carry out proactive action to prevent crime,they always complain as means of cutting cheap political popularity. This is dangerous politics.
ReplyDeleteThis are bunch of half educated literate, how on earth can one hack a system whose server is not link to the world-wide-web (www.). You can fool some people sometimes but you cant fool all the people all the tim
ReplyDeleteDSS aka PDP ride on.
ReplyDeleteOld meat, ashawooo pikin, know ashawo grand mother
ReplyDeleteIt's pathetic that a good number of Nigerians have allowed their sympathies for political parties to becloud their sense of reasoning! How on earth will APC supporters be cursing this woman! What's the difference between APC and PDP? I watched live on Channels the hard evidences she presented and I do not have any iota of doubt that that is what happened! Even if APC are gonna be the saviours this country have been clamouring for why can't they allow Nigerians to decide that!? And to think that some are rationalising it here and. Even cursing the woman is grossly pathetic!
ReplyDeleteMy simple question is: Does INEC have the database of entire voters online? If not, this accusation is baseless
ReplyDeleteWale ola please try and go back to school. APC is cursed.
ReplyDeleteWith d new developments at inec, they certainly will have their servers online. Also inec should also be able to respond to such allegations against APC. If theses info is correct with evidence. Then APC have a plan.
