The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday hailed the gallantry of the Nigerian military and the invaluable sacrifice in keeping the country safe and united, despite the challenges threatening to tear apart the nation.
The APC said Nigerians owe the gallant men and women of the Nigerian military a debt of gratitude for their courage, perseverance and sacrifice in defence of all that Nigerians hold dear.
This was contained in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to mark the 2015 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The party said it was important to call on all Nigerians to show their gratitude to the men and women in uniform by supporting them unconditionally in their ongoing fight against terror.
The APC statement read in part, “It was American politician, Virgil Goode, who said ‘we need to thank all of our troops, and particularly those for whom we can never express enough gratitude for they have given their lives so that all of us may be free and that our democracy can be a shining light for the rest of the world.’
“It is in this light that we urge all our compatriots to remember, especially in their prayers, the gallant troops who are currently battling the virulent insurgency in some parts of our country, against all odds.
“There is no better time than the occasion of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day to do this for the troops, as well as to spare a thought for those who gave their lives in defence of our cherished values.”
The party also said that in view of its all-important role in ensuring the security and unity of the nation, the military must always be above the fray and must never be compromised by politicians.

APC a lying and hypocritical party. Party which has openly criticized and mobilized against Nigerian Army and FG whenever they see army is winning Bokoharam. APC is hailing Army now because they want army support for election and because Bohoharam is currently unleashing more terror on nigerians, they happy. Has the army been winning Bokoharam, APC would have threaten court action against army and allege war crime. I can say APC is satisfied as BK is having field day killing people so that APC will continue to use it against FG, portraying GEJ as incompetent. This is what is going on now. If they have solution to BK, why not bring it out why wait till everybody is killed. Power is more important to them than the lives of people being killed every day. We are still here in this country when Ihejirika flushed Bokoharam out of Sambisa, and northeast of Nigeria and army battled against Bokoharam in the same Baga. It was APC and their cohorts who went about criticizing Army and FG, alleging war crime, accusing FG of declaring war against North. Today Army and Ihejirika have been vindicated, because then APC sponsored press companies, false 'human rights organisations", Falana, Keyamo, Dino Menakaya and others were everywhere accusing Army of killing and burning Baga instead of Bokoharam who actually committed the crime. APC has been protecting and working as accomplices for BK. Nigerians should be careful with this group of people call APC. APC may be winning press war, but God cannot be arm-twisted by tribalists and jihadists.
