Troops of the Nigerian military are currently hunting some Boko Haram fighters between Hong and Michika in Adamawa State, in an attempt to flush out the insurgents.
It was learnt on Thursday that some youths, who are mostly from Michika, had hid in the community to attack soldiers in the communities around Michika.
Investigation revealed that the soldiers have restricted movement from Hong to Michika to prevent the insurgents from fleeing the area.
The source said that some of the insurgents believed to be from the Michika area launched an attack on a military checkpoint in the town but were repelled by the vigilant soldiers.
It was gathered that the soldiers, riot policemen and vigilance groups are carrying out house-to-house search to flush out the insurgents hiding in some of the communities.
A source said, “You know, some of the youths from Michika joined them, and they attacked the troops in the town.
“The soldiers were able to repel the attack and pursued them to some communities outside the main town.
“The troops have also imposed a no movement order on the area from Hong to Michika.”
The source said that the troops recovered three buses which were taken away from the College of Education, Hong, during the invasion of the community by the insurgents.
