Nigeria will be a better place in the next four or five years - Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said if Nigeria continued to progress in the manner it is doing under him, the country would become a better place in the next four or five years.

He said his administration was putting in a lot of efforts to reposition the country but the results might not be immediate.

Jonathan spoke at the Christ Apostolic Church, Area 1, Durumi, Abuja where he joined worshippers for the last Sunday service for the year.

He urged Nigerians to continue to uphold his administration in prayers.

He said, “For me and members of my team, in spite of the challenges, we will continue to do our best.

“As a nation, we have not reached where we want to be, definitely not. But we are coming up with a number of policies.

“Those who are taking pain to look at what we are doing will agree with us that if we progress as a nation steadily in this manner, in the next four or five years, this country will be a better place.”

  1. Nigeria will be a better place in the next four years, based on what? I hope Nigerians will be smart enough to know that four more years under Jonathan will take the country from hell to the bottom of hell. It will be time fro Jonathan to tell the country, "I don't give a damn," as he has boldly proclaimed in the past. The thug Dokumbo Asari will become his foreign minister while Diezani-Madueke will remain custodian of funds, guaranteeing that the corrupt will celebrate and thugs shall rise.

  3. Mr. President, you forgot you said in 2011 that if you can not fix our problems in four years, it means you will not be able to do so if given another chance.

Do you remember we have problems in Nigeria when you bought 3 Executive Jets and start looking for the 4th one?
Do you hear of an Africa Head of State that sold the only Presidential Jet her country had to boost her country's economy?

Please, leave Aso Rock for another Nigerian. A man must keep his words!

  4. Mmmmm! GEJ if we continue with your method of governance in the next 4years Nigeria will be a shadow of herself cz by then her soul would had been looted out and her spirit crushed and brutalised. Most regimes before you were corrupt(agreed/accepted) but none had celebrated corruption the way ur regime did. The number of deaths recorded by this regime surpass all other regimes. Nigeria had never been divided this much along ethnic lines.

Oga Ade u need to go rest. U are already tired.

    Mark.

  5. I like to read news articles with open mind but certainly not with empty head. To be fair to this administration, it has tried but its efforts are not good enough. The question is what is happening to corruption, education, security, unemployment and poverty therefore, it will not be in the developmentmental interest of this country to continue hoping and believing that things will improve. Clearly, there is higher tendency GMB might do better given his past record but there is very little tendency that Jonathan will improve on his record after six years incharge. Fellow Nigerians let's be objective and do away with sentiments . Let's explore alternative.

  8. Nigeria is blessed with great people but the problem is leadership. We can't be doing things the same way and keep praying for a different result. The Bible admonished us to work and pray. Thank you Mr. President for reminding us our of the need to pray for our nation but you failed to tell us to do the needful. That is to vote out bad leaders. With you this nation will not achieve its potential.

  9. Nigeria will never improve under this administration, the GEJ style will never improve Nigeria, let us be realistic. GEJ has been in charged for six years now and we all have seen the level of improvement we are in. We need to tell ourselves the truth, lets leave sentiments aside and face the realistic. Those supporting GEJ now are doing so out of sentiments not because of his works or what he done. In the real sense in any reelection it's the person's work or good governance that will speak for him not sentiments. If GEJ has done well lets his actions speak for him. Please lets forget being sentimental in politics because it will only destroy not build. And again since GEJ is advocating Six years single tenure,is it not good for him to live by example. Somebody who is projecting six years single tenure for the President want to stay ten years, is that not SELFISH. Open your eyes Nigerians, this man meant no good for Nigerian. I bet you today GEJ Nigeria will never improve when him win.
