Muslim youths volunteer to guard Christians during Xmas service in Kaduna

Pastor Yohanna Buru of Christ Evangelical Church, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna South, has said more than 200 Muslim youth volunteers were part of those who protected Christians during church services to celebrate this year’s Christmas in Kaduna, says.

He disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday.

He stated that over 200 Muslims were at his church to help protect Christians from attacks during the church service.

According to him, the feat is the first of its kind after the series of crises that had rocked the state in recent past.

“I really appreciate their love and care,’’ Buru said.

He said the presence of the Muslims at the church was to protect the Christian worshippers, as part of efforts to strengthen peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Christians in the state.

The pastor expressed happiness over the protection given by the Muslims.

He noted the initiative was an indication that peace had come to stay in the state, saying the measure will strengthen peace between both religions.

He urged Nigerians to emulate the gesture and learn to live in peace with one another, irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.

The cleric added that peace was a major panacea to the positive development of any nation.

  1. Salon taste is a Christian dominated area, what about the churches is Muslim dominated areas, where Muslim children throw stones at people going to or coming from church services, and reign insults and abuses on them, taunting them without caution from their parents or elders. All I'm efforts to start a crisis.

    1. I think we should appreciate what these youths have done first and commend them. Maybe thereafter their peers will learn from them and do the same. Rome was not built in a day.
