Despite the ban on vehicular movement in Maiduguri, the capital of troubled Borno State, Christians in the state took the long walk to their churches to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ as represented by Christmas celebration.
Some of the worshippers had to take a long bicycle ride to their various churches though some who could not trek the distance to their churches stayed back at home.
Some churches also did not hold any service due to the security alert by the military.
At the EYN in the Wulari area of the town, special programmes were observed to mark the day.
Two bulls were slaughtered for the over 2000 internally-displaced persons housed within the church to make them be part of the celebration.
The IDPs were also served with varieties of dishes and allowed to partake in some sporting activities. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
