Jonathan alleges sabotage in anti-terrorism war

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday admitted that the current efforts of the Federal Government to tackle insecurity in parts of the country is being hampered by sabotage.

Jonathan spoke while receiving some Nollywood and music stars under the auspices of "Creative Professionals" who paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President further admitted that the sabotage which he described as a frustration comes both internally and externally.

He however did not explain further on the nature of the sabotage whether the saboteurs are in the government or in the military.

Despite the setback however, the President assured his visitors that the efforts being put into the war by his government would soon yield positive result.

"One of our greatest challenges and I have to thank you for observing that one-minute of silence in their honour, is this security challenge. But we are working very hard, we have our frustrations, we have issues of sabotage: internal and external but we are working very hard and by the grace of God, we will overcome," Jonathan told the delegation led by an actor, Segun Arinze.

The President also admitted that apart from insecurity, the country currently also has challenges in infrastructure.

He however said his administration was committed to expanding the horizon, be it in transportation, aviation, ports, roads and power infrastructure.

While lauding those who belong to the entertainment industry for creating positive image for the country, the President regretted that most politicians only generate negative issues.

  1. Jonathan is the number one saboteur due to his insincerity and lack of committnent in tackling insurgency and the believe of his handlers that the situation is to their advantage. It has now boomeranged on him as he is fast loosing it. Buhari all the way.

  2. Buhari and his cohorts vowed to make Nigeria ungovernable for Jonathan in 2011, they shed innocent blood and they are doing it on a daily basis. Nemesis will catch up with them.

  3. If realy jonathan want this insecurity to end he would have end it by now, he was thinking that it will be of help to him but to say the fact this thing alone is making him to loos, im advising him to include x-militry in this war so that before 2015 this will be a history and then we will give him our vote but if not then we must vote someone that we don't even like so that he will also try.

  8. @ anonymous 11:41pm and 1:54am. You lack what it takes to comment on this platform cos u r ignorant of what u jst commented on.

I will Make Nigeria ungovernable was said by a PDP politician, Alhaji Lawal Kaita. He
actually said Nigeria would be ungovernable if Jonathan became president in 2011. Alhaji Lawal Kaita is still a PDP member and still wax strong in PDP. Presently he was appointed a member of reconciliation committee setup by PDP. Don't be
deceived, #BUHARI have never at any occasion made such statement.
    FACTS TO NOTE:
    1. Major General Muhammadu Buhari never said he will make Nigeria ungovernable in 2011 in any format.
    2. It was a PDP politician, Alhaji Lawal Kaita who actually said Nigeria would be ungovernable if Jonathan became president in 2011.
    3. It was Jonathan’s media spokesman,Reuben Abati who sat down and largely concocted the slanderous libel against Buhari’s name in April 2011.
    4. General Muhammadu Buhari took Reuben Abati to court for damaging his name.
    5. The Presidency begged Major General Buhari to settle the case with Reuben Abati and the Guardian Newspaper out of court.
    6. General Buhari obliged and settled out of court. Reuben Abati with The Guardian Newspaper published an unreserved apology to Gen. Buhari in the Guardian of 11th July, 2013.
    7. Late General Azazi referred to the PDP
“ungovernable” crises and anger that did actually lead to Boko Haram terror franchise hired by the PDP. Azazi said, Boko Haram is a creation of the PDP.
So the weed in GEJ's farm was planted by his gardener.

    3. @Iype; God bless you my brother/sister? Your piece is quite educative. Many Nigerians just make statements without recourse to reliable sources. The presidency, through its mouth piece of The Abati and Okupe keep telling lies to the unsuspecting public and tarnishing the image of a clean Nigerian like Buhari. Buhari of all people could not be one preaching fire on a country he once fought gallantly to preserve.

  10. President Jonathan do not have any excuse to give why insecurity has persisted. As commander in chief, the constitution has vested on him all the necessary power to deal with any issue that may be a barrier to peace and tranquility in this country. Also his party has majority in NASS to give him the needed legal backing. The fact is that, the president lacks the political will to act.

  11. Nigerians should campaign vigorously for General Muhammadu Buhari and set the records straight. God bless you Iype for setting the records straight. They lie a lot to damage the man's image. They also said Buhari overthrew the government of Shagari whereas it was not true. It was Ibrahim Babangida that led the team who overthrew Shagari's regime through a coup. After the coup, they agreed that GMB should lead them based on his pedigree and discipline. Stop peddling lies. I am not God but I am certain that if president Jonathan is allowed to continue, I can tell convincingly and sincerely that things can only become worse. What has he done to call for our votes again? Politicians usually perform well in their first terms because they need to campaign on good scorecards so that electorate can give them their votes for the second term. Second terms of politicians are usually not as as good as first terms. I am just worried that if president Jonathan's first term is like this, we need no oracle to tell us how the second term will look like. At times, the president talks like a passenger in a moving train. At times, he does not behave like a president. Look at the statement he made "he said he believes there is sabotage". I sincerely admire the president because he behaves gently and I admire people like that. But the reality is, human beings are complex and we need disciplined and strong hands to manage them especially in a period of crisis like ours. The president should know that his staff and people have tarnished his image and should try and leave before things become severely bad. Nigerians have lost international respect that we used to earn before. Look at how Finland deported Nigerians last Thursday. I was close to tears. Yoruba adage goes thus: "Omo alapata to nje egun". It is sad and sympathetic. God bless Nigeria and its people (Amin).

  12. I said it before you don't have charisma. No commmander in chief of arm forces will give excuses of his failure. Well thank God you are admitting your incapabilities it will be good and honorary for you to step down you can't rule Nigeria. Look at the shape of Nigeria today because of your incapabilities. If you continue they will still sabotage you and we must be getting worse, just do the needful. You know you can't stop the sabotaging. Some fools here are supporting out of sentiments and am pretty sure they all knew that you have failed Nigerians. Everybody knows that GEJ does have the will power, some other people are ruling pushing the President around. Me and you knows that Nigeria is a bad shape, lets us put sentiments aside and say the truth without blaming anybody for GEJ failure. This is not what we all expected when we all overwhelming voted for him in 2011 and now that he didn't perform to our expectations lets say the truth. The truth will only set Nigeria free not sentiments.

  13. @ el matosky, I believe in facts so I got no time for guys with low IQ. Sentiment aside, If you can defend GEJ on this question of mine then I will keep shut and speak against him no more.

Speaking with United Nations diplomats on Monday,31st January 2011 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, President Goodluck Jonathan made this promise:
“If I’m voted into power, within the next four
years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. Four years is enough for anyone in power to make a significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything…”

About four years after, the promise is yet to be fulfilled. So what is your take on this MR El Matosky (SAn) Be GEJ's Attorney n defend him with proof please or just shut your mouth.

  15. First project for Buhari will be to dismantle the Military. He will sack the Southern officers and give the northerners double or triple promotion. So that once he leaves office if the next government is not pro north, they will plan a coup de ta and the North would Continue to rule. Buhari is only in interested in power to correct the power structure. The North has ruled for 33 years without progress. There has been no progress with their people in spite of all the years they have been in power. The little progress we have had has been only when They were not in power. APC only wants to use Buhari Bro get power. Wake up!!!. A word is enough for the wise. The North is not progressive.

  17. So what happens to the Niger delta if Buhari wins? Will we continue to export crude oil? Or will we have gas running to run the electricity plants? Or will Buhari wipe out the Niger delta people who have just managed to get into Aso Rock by default in the 54 years of Nigeria existence even though they sit on the oil reserves? ??
