In a letter he addressed to the delegates at the APC convention, Wednesday, in Lagos, Buhari said that insecurity, corruption, and economic collapse have brought the nation low.
He stated his ambition was not to fulfil selfish desires, pledging that he would evolve a new Nigeria where Christians and muslims would be secure and safe to practice their respective religions.
The letter below:
My Dear Delegates,
As you gather for our convention, please remember that history, change and the hopes of Nigeria are there with you. They are there to ask you to perform according to your best judgment and patriotic conscience. I also ask you to do the same.
We seek a new Nigeria. It starts with us. It starts today. I have placed myself before you seeking your help to nominate me as your standard bearer for our progressive party, APC.
Personal ambition does not drive me in this regard. I seek to be the next president of our beloved nation because I believe I have something to offer Nigeria at this time of multiple crises. Insecurity, corruption, and economic collapse have brought the nation low. Time is past due that we work together to lift Nigeria up. I am ready to lead Nigeria to its rightful future.
I have always served Nigeria to the best of my ability.
I have always tried to give more to the nation than it has given me. This is the principle of service that has guided my public life. Thus, I am not a rich person. I can’t give you a pocketful of dollars or naira to purchase your support. Even if I could, I would not do so. The fate of this nation is not up for sale.
What I will give you, and this nation is all of my strength, commitment, sweat and toil in the service of the people. What I can give you is my all.
I do not intend to rule Nigeria. I want to democratically govern it with your help. I seek a Nigeria where Christians and Muslims may practise their faiths in peace and security; a Nigeria that is just and where corruption no longer trespasses into our institutions and national behavior and a Nigeria where our diversity could be used for our national prosperity.
Nigeria is our home. Let us now turn it into the great nation we know it can and should be.
I thank you all
Muhammadu Buhari (RTD) GCFR

DeleteWendy.Your comment does not make any difference... I believe its the vote that will count at the end of the day...People like you may not even have a PVC talk-less of voting. Its only empty talk on NE.
DeleteNigerians have the chance to turn things around by voting for Buhari. The country needs a new leader. There is a national crisis that requires urgent attention. PDP leadership has done too much damage to the country. The country must look elsewhere other than Jonathan and his corrupt leadership. Nigerians must make a wise decision in order to salvage the country. I can't vote, since I don't live in the country, but if I were to vote, I would certainly vote for Buhari over Jonathan, just for the good of the country. By the way, I'm from the southern part of the country, in case you want to know.
ReplyDeleteYou don't know anything about 9 ja since you are domiciled overseas. You can't tell us about the candidates because you are alien to our southern predicaments .Permit me to urge you to shut up your mouth.
DeletePeopl like you are the problem of this great nation Johan, though you sounded naive than your look and obviously lack intelligence in your comment. You claimed to know better but ignorance shows more in you than wisdom. Anonymous @11:07. Made a very good remarks all that came out of ur stinken mouth was rubbish.
DeleteThe message for the delegates expressed your strong position and I believe you mean it because of you credentials. I strongly support you
ReplyDeleteMay God have mercy on us in Nigeria , Our beloved nation need better leader ,let us give Muhammadu Buhari the chance to lead us to the straight part ,we've tired of all this messing around in our country . Muhammadu Buhari carry go ,We're all with you because God know the best . On high APC
ReplyDeleteBarak Wendy, mind ur words
ReplyDeleteNigerians, the only reason u will support Jonathan is due to ignorance or sentiments (either tribal or religious). He obviously didn't do anything serious. all d achievements he claims to have aren't real... Some people will say they make one government ungovernable, if is true then it should be on security alone. All other corrupt and legalistic charges shouldn't be there. Let's be wise in unity voting for a change... his second term can't be better, it can only go worse
ReplyDeleteYou are holding the broom like a sword. This shows how violent and desperate you are.
ReplyDeleteDear anonymous,
DeleteI think you should look at the picture again. And if you still consider that GMB is holding the broom like a sword, then so be it. That shows that he's ready to fight corruption, backwardness, ill-luck and insecurity.
It's a sign of seriousness as against drunkenness; readiness as against tardiness; willingness as against ineptness.
Please think about the future of your offsprings or other family members and help secure it by voting the right choice: GMB.
God bless you
Hmmmm GMB?who is fooling who?you don't have intention to rule Nigeria for your own but this is the 4th time u re contesting right?are you d only one dat can rule us Ni?where is our oil money-$9.8b dat got missing when you were d minister of petroleum?what you did to Lagosians den will hunt u.We don't want you as a president.
ReplyDeleteYou and who is we" if you are talking about lagosian then our choice is Buhari
DeleteHmmmm very unfortunate dat wit d way things are going on in dis country, we still have some fools like wendy and group dat are extremely blind!!!!! Buhari go ahead..... God be with u.
ReplyDeleteGMB will certainly have my vote at the general election. I'm charged and ready to campaign for him. I'm not one of the fools that will fall for the sentiments coming out from president Jonathan camp. What they can not fix in sixteen years they will never fix in four. No matter how far you travel on a wrong route you can never arrived in your destination. Now is time for change. That's what GMB represents.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmm! Correct u r right 3:16 am
ReplyDeleteVoting Jonathan is destroying our collective future.
ReplyDeletePeople open your eyes, Buhari is the man for this country, it is only corrupt people that do not want him as our president. I am an Igbo Christian lady but i am a strong believer in Buhari. He is the only Nigerian we can say is devoid of corruption. A former president who only has 2 houses, 1 in Kano, 1 in his village, no foreign bank account, no assets abroad, no oil well, As chairman of PTDF he handled it transparently both his accounts and projects, he never received salary because he said he was paid pension by the army, He divorced his wife for taking money from Babangida when he was in prison, he made Nigeria corruption and indiscipline free when he was president. during his tenure as president, there was no religious crisis, Babangida was the one that made this country member of oic, he paid off all nigeria debt, strengthened the naira that it was competing with the dollar, reduced inflation from 23% to 5%, As petroleum minister, he was the one that built the 3 refineries in Warri, Kaduna and PH, during his tenure, we refined all our oil here, never exported oil but exported refined fuel. I can go on and on. My fervent prayer is for God to liberate Nigeria through this man called Buhari. He is the man for the job ho ha.
ReplyDeleteIt is quick to make unforseen promises which is normal politicians strategy to win but we Nigeians' are 100% tired of all these lies, they will say a thing now but tomorrow is chaos in the Land, my very own mind will speak the person i will vote for but definitely not Buhari nor any of APC candidate because during Tinubu's regime he render my company of 36 States impotent till date while Tinubu set up his company i.e ABC at Ijora to generate revenue for Lagos State and some other States, that is what power can do and some of these Chartered Accountants have been rendered useless, people may not understand but I'm a living witness to this, though i have gotten another job but what about thousands of my ex-colleauges out there roaming about the street while some died of heart attack. may God help Nigeria and may his will be done, amen. and i can as well read the mind of my other ex-colleauges.
ReplyDeleteI say CAPITAL NO, Buhari only want to take the glory after he has being using boko haram to weaking Jonathans government, he just want power by all means, i am not thril about him coming to rule Nigeria again because i know pratically before man and God how APC under Tinubu's regime give me company set back till date. People should cast their vote wisely because this conny party will show Nigeria pepper.
ReplyDeleteI wil vote Buhari not bcs of his personality but bcs of his party. PDP as reali failed Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteGood guys you know the right person in the right place vote for Buhari 2015 if we want our mother Land to go forward not backwards God bless you all
ReplyDeleteEveryone is entitled to a particular opinion on this open medium but I think it is no reason to be insulting or vulgar. Are we thinking straight or are we being sentimental....... General Buhari looks like the most credible of all candidates but can he rule away from the shackles of corrupt party members? Jonathan is the incumbent and he has done poorly, Mr Korede in his comments above mentioned 9B naira loss when Buhari was minister but he will probably crumble in tears when he knows how much has been wasted under the present petroleum minister. I personally think we should try something else, PDP and it's candidates have failed is all these years.
ReplyDeleteu guys should stop attacking d young
ReplyDeleteman cos dats is his own opinion and am in support of him 2 Gej all d way.
Buhari i support, congratulations.
