'Do not be deceived by Buhari’s questionable romance with Christians' - PDP chieftain

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State and candidate for Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency seat in the February 14, 2015 National Assembly elections, Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, has urged the Christian communities nationwide not to be deceived by General Muhammadu Buhari’s overture.

Agbonayinma said, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, that “the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, has begun questionable romance with the Church with the aim of securing its critical support in the 2015 presidential election”.

“He went on: It is indeed worrisome that Gen. Buhari has become very desperate to win the presidency, hence his overture to the Church, where I gathered he is now being taught how to sing Christian songs, which he will sing during campaign. “This is patently unacceptable as this questionable romance runs contrary to Buhari’s antecedents and the records of his public positions and declarations on the issue of religion.

“This is a man who had, in the past, cared less about hurting the sensibilities of Christians with his fanatical disposition about Muslim religion.

“He said in August 27, 2001 that he would ‘continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria,’ and was quoted to have further declared, ‘God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country.”

  3. PDP is really the party of religious bigots. All their campaign this season is about religion and character assassination instead of defending their poor record. I am a christain, I must say that politicization of religion is bad. Please, Nigerians let us show maturity by rejecting this bad omen.

  4. This PDP party is sick and full of lies. All liars shall go to hell fire. General Buhari was one time the Head of State via the coup staged by IBB and his cohorts. Buhari made great impacts positively and he never tuned or tried to turn Nigeria into an Islamic State. Then how come they are peddling rumors that Buhari is a fanatic and will turn Nigeria into an Islamic State? Bullshits! Only bad people who are enemies of the masses are the ones saying all these lies. They know it won't be business as usual once Buhari gets to power and their fake businesses will suffer. My advice to the masses like myself is that please do not be deceived anymore. A word is enough for the wise.

  6. On my part as a Christian, Buhari is not a man to trust with the economy of Nigeria. He cannot control Nigeria. Whatever it was he achieved during his rain as a military head of state is not possible at this time. He is out-dated and his ideas are out-moded. We don't want a president that will die in office again because of stress.

  9. There is a chance that Buhari would be better than GEJ, there is a chance that he won't. But there is no chance that GEJ would be better than GEJ. Vote wisely and not sentimentally. I urge our brothers especially those from the south south to stop being tribalistic and face reality. The better part of those campaigning for Buhari are not northerners.
