58 aspirants jostle for 24 Reps tickets in Lagos

Fifty eight aspirants contested the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives primaries for the 24 federal constituencies in Lagos State yesterday.

Out of the 58 aspirants, five were unopposed in Etiosa, Ifako Jaiye,Ibeju Lekki , Kosofe and Lagos Island 2 federal constituencies.

The state publicity secretary of the PDP, Mr Taofik Gani revealed that the candidature of aspirants who were unopposed would be ratified by the delegates in their respective federal constituencies.

He said aspirants in the other federal constituencies would go for elections.

Although, the primary election was scheduled to begin by 10 am, distribution of materials could not commence until about 2.45pm. and in some centres, it did not start till 4pm.

Efforts to find out the reason for the delay in the commencement of the exercise was unsuccessful, as a party official said the Chairman of the committee in charge of the primaries would not speak to journalists until the end of the exercise.
