Use your voter card to secure your future - Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday called on Nigerians to ensure the principle of “one man, one vote” and to use their voter cards to fight for their lives, children and future in a very decent and peaceful way.

The President said the country would remain an unbroken political empire despite its ethnic and cultural diversities.

Jonathan, represented by his Chief of Staff, Brig-Gen. Jones Arogbofa (retd.), spoke in Abuja during the public presentation of a book, “Diverse but not broken-Wake-up calls for Nigeria”, written by Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Canada and one-time Head, Department of Theatre Arts, University of Jos, Prof. Iyorwuese Hagher.

Delivering his principal’s message, Arogbofa said, “Election is now around the corner; the President believes in one man, one vote. I want to plead with you that if you believe that, it means that there should be no trouble and no problems during the 2015 elections. So I want to plead with you to please note that we don’t have any other nation.

“This is Nigeria and Nigeria belongs to us. We don’t have to run anywhere, but we have to stay here and use that (our) voter cards to fight for our life, our children and our future in a very decent and peaceful way.

“The President has asked me to let you know that the time we are now is the time that we need peace. The time we are now is the time that we need political understanding and of course the time that we are now is the time that we should gravitate towards ensuring that the transformation agenda is not only on course but a time when value is added.”
