The Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, has called on Nigerians irrespective of their religion or ethnic affinity to ensure that they elect a good leader in 2015 general elections.
According to a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Monday by media aide to Osun State Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, the speaker made this call on Sunday in Lagos at a victory colloquium organised for Governor Rauf Aregbesola by the Gazelle News, an online news organisation.
Tambuwal, who recently announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress has come under attack and alleged persecution from the ruling party.
He said, “What Nigeria needs urgently is a good leader, one who believes in peace, progress and development of the country and the welfare of the people. Nigerians need to elect a good leader in 2015.”
Reacting to the withdrawal of security details attached to his office by the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Aba, the speaker accused the police boss of double standard but said he would not talk much on the issue because he had gone to challenge it at court.
He said he was miffed by the pronouncement of Aba that he (Speaker) should vacate his office having defected from PDP to the APC.
He said, ” Recently, the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko defected to PDP alongside the Speaker of House of Assembly.
“The IGP did not say the Speaker should vacate his seat. Why is he now making such pronouncement in my own case.
“Is it a case of different laws for different people? Anyway, I have gone to court, so I rest my case.

Who is credible? PDP members or the ex and aggrieved PDP members (APC) am yet to see a credible person.
