Soldiers kill scores, recover arms in Nasarawa



The Nigerian Army on Monday reportedly cracked down on one of the camps of some insurgents at Ipkosogye in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, killing over an unspecified number of the gunmen, and recovered dangerous weapons from the invaders.


It was learnt that the gunmen opened fire on the soldiers but the soldiers were said to have responded with higher fire power, killing scores of the insurgents.

It was gathered that arms, live ammunition, cutlasses, clubs and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the militants' camps.

Men of the Nigerian Army had killed nine Fulani invaders in February this year at Keana, Keana LGA of the state in the conflict between farmers and Fulani cattle breeders in the southern senatorial district of the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen had ransacked over 400 communities, killing no fewer than 200 people and razed down about 400 houses since they started their deadly operations four months ago without challenge from security operatives in the state.

It was gathered that the soldiers were were deployed from the 177 Guards battalion, Keffi to the volatile areas of Assakio, Ashangwa,Ginda Gambo, Ikposogye among others.
