Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano State on Saturday said those trying to break the unity of the country would fail.
The governor, who said this when he briefed newsmen in Kano on Saturday, added that he gave the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, the permission to attend a reported peace meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan.
He said some people, who were trying to divide the country on religious line and ethnicity, would never succeed.
Kwankwaso said he would tackle the security challenges bedeviling the country if given the mandate to rule the country in 2015.
“My major concern, if elected as president of this country, is to tackle the current insecurity and ensure economic development in the country,” he said.
He disclosed that the state government recently donated foodstuffs to displaced persons affected by insurgency in Borno and Yobe states as part of effort to cushion their sufferings.
Kwankwaso added that the state government would soon send relief materials to displaced persons in Adamawa and other affected states.
He said he aware of the recent visit of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, to Jonathan for reconciliation.
“The Emir of Kano told me he was going to Abuja for a meeting with President Jonathan and I gave him approval to go. The Emir, after their meeting with the President, also briefed me all what happened there.
“I will be very happy if Villa will be inviting Kano people for reconciliation,’’ he said. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

ReplyDeleteLAME SPEECH. DIVIDE WE STAND, TOGETHER WE FALL.
ReplyDeleteWho cares if you gave the approval or not. So you know that you will tackle insecurity to ensure economic development? And you have the courage to blame Jonathan administration for not performing? Jonathan is doing his best even in the mixt of insecurity problem in the north.
ReplyDeleteWhy wait till you become the president before you assist in tackling security problem. Your position as the governor of a state especially in the north where the insurgency is prominent should be enough for you to proffer solution. If truly you know what to do, then do it and we will vote for you otherwise please stop telling us stories and leave us alone. And also forget being president as well.
ReplyDeleteWe the citizens of this country are no longer happy about how you politicians are using the press to make a fool of us. We've read in some media how you went mad when you learnt the Emir went to have reconciliatory talks with the Presidentand how you summoned him to come and explain. Now this piece is telling us you approved of it before he went. If this was true, you're at least expected to sue the media that made the previous contrary report.
