President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday commissioned the new Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Ambursa in Kebbi State with the assurance that the Federal Government will continue to maintain such laudable facilities either constructed or developed by state governments.
He said the laudable projects would not be neglected because of its importance towards the economic growth of the nation.
He called on the Ministry of Aviation to as a matter of urgency, checkmate some lingering problems the new airport was facing and report to the Federal Government for urgent attention.
According to Jonathan, seven new airports were constructed or developed by their state governments, which include kebbi, Jigawa, Benue among others.
The president also commended the state government for developing the new airport up to its normal standard, which in the future could generate huge revenue for the state and the country as a whole.
Earlier, in his speech, the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Chidoka Osita told the gathering that before the new airport met its present stage, it had followed all aviation’s procedures and approval.
He disclosed that several inspections were made to the airport by the aviation officials before it finally got to its present stage.
The minster however urged the people and government of kebbi state to keep vigil on the faclities placed in the airport so as to be proud of in the future.
The new airport was iniatially constructed by Adamu Aleiro’s adminsitration later was developed by Governor saidu Dakingari in to a billion naira.
