Mind development better than stomach infrastructure -Fashola

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, has said developing the mind is more enduring than developing the stomach.

He said this on Tuesday at the fifth anniversary of the uniformed voluntary clubs in the state’s public schools.

Some of the clubs at the event included the Boys’ Scout, Red Cross Society, Brownies, Sheriff Guard, Boys and Girls Brigade as well as the African Lad and Lasses Brigade.

Fashola, who delivered the keynote address on the occasion, urged the pupils to imbibe the tenets of the various clubs to which they belonged.

The governor said, “There is one infrastructure, the infrastructure of the mind. Some people have opted to develop the infrastructure of the stomach. I am convinced that when they reflect on it, they will understand that educating and equipping the mind is the best way of preparing to feed them.

“As you proceed in your education what will stand you out is what you know. Your character will define how people relate to you. I cannot recall any incident that a Sheriff Guard uniform was found at the scene of a crime; it has never been reported. But there is nothing esoteric about the uniform. But it is the character of the people who wear the uniform that defines the uniform.

“The choice that you make will determine whether there will be a sixth edition of this programme. But I can assure you that as long as the All Progressives Congress government is in place, this programme will continue to hold.”

  1. This man you talk unnecessarily these days, what has stomach infrastructure got to do with this event?. Why not concentrate on your Lagos state and leave PDP controlled states with there problems. The way you attack PDP these days one will think that your so call mega city Lagos is a paradise. You still have not finished the one and only road that connects your new Lagos to the old Lagos (being handled by your political god father Bola Tinubu) - Lekki, Ajah, Awoyaya Epe Expressway. You call Lagos "mega city" yet only one unmotorable road from VI to your new Lagos. Mega cities all over the world have flexible means of transportation -water, rail, land etc. In your own case it's just unmotorable land transport system. The waterway is full of boat mishaps frequently. Rail does not exist for now. The so call forth mainland bridge plans is still at its embryonic stage. Your so call PPP for the new city is still on drawing board. Everyday people leave their houses latest 4am so as to be early from Lekki to VI a distance of roughly 2km, yet still spend not less than 3hours on traffic. Am not even talking of those coming to work from mainland to island.
Same thing applys to Rivers state. Their so call garden city is a garbage city, growing into the biggest slum in Africa - no road, flood every where when ever it drizzles. Mr Amaechi embezzled #270 on the guise of building 3km monorail project.
Just let sleeping dog sleep, you think Nigerians don't have your dossiers ?, you are wrong we do. You are all the same irrespective of party.

  3. You have to stay alive to develop the mind. The mind feeds on the stomach, if the stomach is empty, sooner than later, the mind dies off. Mr Fashola is trying to play a catch up game with Ayo Fayose after the guy turned his "Stomach Infrastructure" attack to a great strength. Try to accept defeat and come up something else, they say you are smarter than this, show us if you are. "Stomach infrastructure" is not sticking!
