Jonathan warns against do-or-die politics

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday urged political office seekers to shun desperation, saying their ambitions should never be a do or die in the interest of the nation.

The President made the appeal at Otuabula 2, the headquarters of Ward 13 in Ogbia Local Government Area, while monitoring the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party congress in Bayelsa State.

Jonathan also warned the leadership of the party at all levels against the imposition of candidates for various offices.

The president said such a stance could adversely affect the fortunes of the party in the forthcoming general elections in the country.

He, however, urged all the candidates to be loyal to their party leadership.

He commended the peaceful conduct of the Ward Congress of the PDP in the state.

Mr Blessing Odeh, the Ward Chairman, later presented Jonathan with membership card number 2851001.

The President’s wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, was also presented with membership card number 2851002.

Speaking in a similar vein, Governor Seriake Dickson lauded the leadership and members of PDP for their peaceful conduct during the ward congress of the party in the state.

Dickson, who participated in Tarakiri Ward 2 at Angalabiri in Sagbama Local Government area of the state, said the members’ conduct was a further confirmation of the unity and stability in the party in the state.

  1. That's exactly what you are doing, Mr. President. Allow primary election in PDP on a level playing field for us to believe you are not a desperado and a do or die politician.

  2. Thank you Our dear President we believe in you, Desperate politicians in APC will not have their way come 2015, The peace we enjoy today is because of Good leadership by GEJ. and PDP. Greedy and Angry party congress will be disappointed when we vote PDP massively this time because it is a challenge to the Largest Party in African to be insulted by APC and their cohorts.
