House of Reps list 50 impeachable offences against President Jonathan

Surely the House of Representatives are on the same page with their Senate counterparts in their bid to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan.

It was reliably gathered that the assemblymen would start impeachment process against the President immediately it reconvenes next Wednesday.

This is just as the lawmakers coordinating the impeachment process have disclosed that they have identified over 50 constitutional violations against the President, which would form part of the impeachment notice.

A ranking officer in the House who revealed this said both chambers have resolved to work together for the common good of the country by impeaching President Jonathan for “incompetence, corruption and unprecedented impunity.”

He revealed that the impeachment plot against Jonathan was not a partisan affair, explaining that lawmakers from all the political parties have identified with the “cause” and will not give up until the President is “sent packing.”

“I’m sure you read the reports today that senators are going to move against Jonathan. Now you can confirm that the impeachment thing is not about APC. It is a non-partisan cause. We have all resolved that the man (President Jonathan) must go.

“Never in the history of Nigeria has a leader displayed such crass incompetence as we have seen in President Jonathan. It is glaring and you can feel it. Mr. President, with due respect, has shown that he is not capable of running this country. That is the basic truth”, he stated.

According to the lawmaker, over 50 impeachable offences have been identified against the president and members of the House would work closely with the Senate to ensure that the president is impeached.

  1. The man GEJ has displayed gross incompetence and should have been out of the Aso Rock a long time ago. But sentiments kept him there and I would not be surprised if sentiments and tribal affiliations come to play in the face of a crude display of cluenessness by the presidency. What a shame! People from certain parts of the country will never see any good in the patriotic gesture of the noble house members, as to them, cluelessness is a gift rearly found and for their son to have used his to gain entry into the Aso-Rock is an event worth celebrating. We are a long way from success.

    1. Where can you go if there is no Nigeria? Better pack your things and move there now as Nigerians are set to rid themselves of this myopic, divisive, tribal, incompetent, clueless, corrupt, insensitive, thuggish, bragard, selfish and insincere individual who has the greatest threat to this nation since the civil war.

    1. Forget it. Even if you are from the Niger Delta or the South East, you can't afford to fight a civil war.
Most of the food consumed in your region is supplied from the north.
To win a war, you need beans, bullets and men in that order of importance.
Then the Biafran war shall be a child's play.

  10. At last!, to every beginning there's an end, the end has finally caught up with this man, Politics aside GEJ is the worst man to ever attain the seat of president in this country, the impunity under his regime is far too worse, the economy is zero, he divided the country across ethnic lines, he condoned corruption, refused to jail/prosecute corrupt individuals unable to control is wife/home, there was a situation where the so called first lady wanted to sack a perm sec. Someone that wasn't voted into power.

If the house of reps/senate cannot get rid of this president then there will be nothing left to govern in the years to come in fact GEJ is unfit to govern south south talkless Nigeria.

To the pple of Niger delta pple advocating for GEJ when Nigeria divides u guys can make GEJ ur president, we don't care!! And u can drown in ur oil!! We don't need it. There is enough deposit of crude/other resources in south west for us so stop treating us abt ur oil.

  15. my heart bleeds when I read wat our youths re writing in respect to this sensitive issue. why can't we put aside religion, ethnic, political sentiments and look into the matter as civilized people? a land that flows with milk and honey but her pple are dying of hunger and starvation.a country where graduates are taxi and okada and keke drivers. a nation that can't boast of 24 hrs uninterrupted electricity. a nation where meritocracy is slaughtered at the alter of mediocrity.a nation that is cursed with conscienceless, clueless and kleptomaniac rulers. a nation that sacked her CBN governor for daring to raise alarm on the disappearance of $20 billion. a nation where the executive now makes and interpret the laws. unfortunately we seem to be happy to settle for less. d giant of Africa has become the carcass of an elephant that maggots now feast upon with impunity, sadly, we applaud...( Dan from Abuja).

  17. Tambuwal impeach GEJ and end existence of Nigeria-because u are mad, after looting the country's resources you defect to avert arrest by EFCC , it does not end there. By 2015 Nigeria will seize to exist as one so get prepare, The North & West will join to form a country call Oduduwahausa Fulani while the East and South South will join to form Biafra . Watch the hand writing on the wall , do not say I told you. Come 2015 we need a referendum election to vote whether we should exist as one Nigeria or Not.

  18. It is rather unfortunate that some people are calling for war. Perhaps, they thought war has respect for any one. I am convinced that most of the commentators here are either very young during the Civil war or are yet unborn. In the categorization of peace, I want to prudently place Nigerian peace as a fragile peace. Be that as it may, period of peace, no matter what category, is much better than riot or rather, at extreme, war period. During war, there is no law and order, anarchy will be the order of the day. You can kill at will and can be killed at anytime. It therefore means that at war time, the probability of having access to Nigerian Eye's publications may tend to zero. Commentary will ceased and uncertainties envelope the space. Oh Allah, please do not afflict this nation with chaos that will leads us to war.

  19. I remembered very vividly that someone threatened to make Jonathan’s regime unbearable; just because he did not win the election then; he went as far as shedding innocent bloods just to fulfil his treats. Finally, the foolish ones are dancing to the outcome of that treats forgetting the evil perpetrators behind Boko Haram. I am not saying Jonathan should rule again, but I am only saying that we should lay the blames of current Nigeria’s situation on hungry power mongers destroying our country and killing innocent souls just to be able to grasp power by all means.
