The Catholic Bishop of Maiduguri Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Oliver Doeme Dashe, has lamented that the federal government is more committed to the 2015 general elections than the fight against Boko Haram.
He noted that the action of the government at the centre is risking the spread of the insurgency across all parts of the country, stressing that “government must expedite action towards ending the Boko Haram insurgency or risk its spread across the country.”
Bishop Dashe, who spoke with our correspondent in Maiduguri, observed that Boko Haram is spreading like wild fire in the North East states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe with Gombe and Bauchi gradually being listed in the trail.
The bishop who is in charge of Borno, Yobe and some parts of Adamawa states noted that the activities of the insurgents have paralysed economic, social, religious, agricultural, among other activities in all the affected states as people continue to wallow in abject sufferings, adding that, “government seems to be less concern.”
He criticized the government and lamented, “I wonder what is happening. The government is supposed to be proactive but the Boko Haram is always ahead of the security personnel and even the plans of the government. It looks as if the government is more serious with the 2015 elections than this fight against Boko Haram. Something is basically wrong and I am therefore using this opportunity to call on the government to act decisively before this cancer spreads.”
The Bishop revealed that out of the 46 Catholic priests working in Maiduguri diocese, 20 are currently displaced by the activities of the insurgents, while out of the 40 existing parishes 20 are currently deserted, and of the six existing deaneries, there are now been occupied by the Boko Haram fighters.
He blamed the laxity of the government on the colossal losses of people to the insurgency.

ReplyDeleteHonestly the current govt ve lost idea on dealing with this cancer, always pushing blames and making excuses. apc is not our problem but jeg, he has lost direction 2 to 3 years back. he was properly advised but he ignored on the platter of politics. in the same manner, malik (iraqi president) too lost power for failing to adhere to top security details on isis and how he was busy polarizing his military and his country at large. obama is going thru the same challenge by failing to act early enough to root out asad. he was advised but failed to act. now he is paying a multiple times what would ve bn sorted out long ago. the difference obama is willing to change the course of the isis but jeg is totally lost among the bh's that eat wit him on the same table in asorock. he doesn't ve the eye to see ignore to ve seen them on the share mentality the the north should destroy themselves. it is a bitter wickedness. we ve both Christians and Muslims in the north that are daily killed by this cancer and that prove jeg is yet to come to terms with the mission of this evil boys. jeg need to wake up to reality and stop blaming opposition party and move in fast to avoid unnecessary massacre in the north east.
ReplyDeleteWe all know that GEJ has failed and posterity will acknowledge that. There is more to this war than meet the eye. War are best fought on kneels of prayer, then strategy decision making table and then on the battle field. Nigeria is reproached by the plague of Boko Haram becos Our leaders have entered a pact with the devil. GEJ is cluelessness because those who are cursing these nation to fail under his leadership know for sure that GEJ does not have an idea on the evil they have planted by hiring evil men to curse these nation perpetually as long as he is on the sit. Nigeria Army is adjudged to be the best but these curse has blinded them do act sheepishly and cowardly. This war is more than a military battle... he who has an ear let him hear...
