Edo State Government, yesterday, declared today a work-free day to enable registered voters in the state to collect the Permanent Voter Cards, PVC, which distribution commences today.
A statement by Mr. Peter Okhiria, Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, said:
“The public holiday is to enable registered voters the opportunity to collect the Permanent Voter Cards which distribution will hold from Friday November 7, to Sunday November 9, according to INEC’s time-table.
“Registered voters in Edo State are advised to avail themselves of this opportunity and collect the Permanent Voter Cards within the 3-day period.”
In another development, the state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has commenced screening of its House of Assembly aspirants in the three senatorial districts of the state.
One of the aspirants in Egor Local Government Area, Mr. Nosa Adams, missed the screening, following his remand by the Magistrate Court in Benin, Wednesday, over alleged attempted murder during the ward congresses of the party last weekend.
