Capture Of Chibok Town Breaks The Heart – Oby Ezekwesili

One of the conveners of the #BringBackOurGirls group and former minister of education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili has described the capture of Chibok town by the Boko Haram insurgents and listening to the lamentation of the parents of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls, as heart breaking.

Dr. Ezekwesili, who has been one of the front campaigners in the advocacy of the rescue of 219 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok on April 14, noted that this particular act by the Boko Haram sect, has shocked her as she cannot find a voice to advocate for the abducted girls when their parents are on the run and the same insurgents, who abducted them, are now in charge of their town.

She however wondered how the federal government will explain to the world that the same brutal men, who took Chibok girls, have also returned to take over their town.

It would be recalled that the Boko Haram sect attacked and reportedly captured Chibok community between Thursday and Friday and while confirming the report, the chairman of Chibok community in Abuja, Hosea Abana Tsambido had said that though the Boko Haram attacked his community in Borno state, the military and civilian JTF are battling the terrorists.

“Yes, they invaded Chibok yesterday, around 3pm. I also heard that Chibok is still under attack. I heard that the military and the Civilians JTF are battling them. And I pray that they win this fight so that my community will be safe again. Many villagers have escaped the area while I heard many houses have been touched. I also heard that some people were killed but for now I don’t know the number of people that had died,” Tsambido explained.

He however expressed optimism and hope that the situation would be settled since the military and the Civilian JTF are ready to battle the sect members, noting that “We pray that the military and the Civilian JTF gain an upper hand on the insurgency and win the battle. That is my prayer.”

Recall that the vice chairman of the Chibok community in Abuja, Mutah Nkeki, had raised the alarm of the impending attack on the Chibok community but obviously, there was no re-enforcement to secure the community.

  1. GEJ and his foolish supporters will soon defend the government, funny enough and giving reason why it must be a lie. "No Bokoharam" in Chibok, Nigerian Soldiers has repel them and they are in "full control" to end it well, Jonathan must come back for another 20 years or else no Nigeria if he is not allowed a second term. Please tell me where in the world how you can win election with all this kind of rotten talks. Is election not won by the contestant with higher number of cast?
I know GEJ is afraid because surely he is going to jail after 2015 general election for his misdeed, trust me.

Only God know the circumstances for which she left the Govt. Says she didn't have money to pay for her mother's house rent while she was a minister. So now who buys your diesel in ur generator, which money did u use to build the house you live in (if u didn't rent it).

Abeg park well. I hope when ur friend, Iweala leave govt now, she won't say her own. Now that she there, she is supporting the govt. Does she not know that girls were kidnapped? Why didn't she resign and follow u to lead the way to Chibok town if the govt is not doing enuf. Oohh! U sef dey fear to die. God dey.
