Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, said on Tuesday that he heeded the calls of members of his constituency to dump the Peoples Democratic Party.
He also claimed that certain developments in the Sokoto State chapter of the PDP suggested that he could no longer continue to be a PDP member.
He spoke in a brief remark at Tuesday’s plenary to formally declare his defection to the All Progressives Congress.
“Based on the provision of the 1999 Constitution, and having regards to the development of PDP in my own state, Sokoto State, I hereby announce my membership with the All Progressives Congress.
“Let me register my profound appreciation to all of you my colleagues for the unflinching support you have continued to extend to me for the overall national interest and development of our democracy.
“May almighty God continue to guide us all”, he told members.
The defection ended months of speculation over Tambuwal’s political future.
Tambuwal is expected to contest for the governorship of his native Sokoto State. His months of denial is believed to have been informed by his concerns about losing his position as the Speaker. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

You simply left for your selfish aims, you are all political thieves and jumping from one party or the other does not make you a better politician
ReplyDeleteJumping around is entrenched in PDP constitution. He's not a bastard. It was pay back time for PDP. I call it Karma. Obi did it, Mimiko did it. So more house members especially from the north are expected to decant soon.
Delete2015 is closing in and politicians, like never before, are choosing sides, not because of the electorates but because of their own desire to remain relevant. But the PDP is proving to be a one stream flow and if that flow affects you negatively, you have to find a different stream. Tambuwal's action is a welcome development
ReplyDeleteIt is very good Tambowal knows that he has lost politically PDP will never have given him nomination so many who know that PDP will not give them nomination of course will go to another part to contest but the big questing Is that all of them will lose election God said that Jonathan is doing His agenda anybody fighting him is waiting his time you cannot fight God and still stands
