A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Peter Olorunnisola, on Thursday said the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal has the constitutional right to defect to any party of his choice.
Tambuwal defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Olorunnisola spoke in an interview with journalists in Ilorin during the centenary lecture/public presentation of a book organised by the Old Students Association of Government Secondary School, Ilorin.
He said PDP’s reaction to Tambuwal’s defection was part of politics.
He said, “In a democratic system, a man has the right to move whereever he thinks his conscience allows him to go to, depending on what he is looking for. If a person moves out, the people who value him will not just look, they will try to fight back, whether their fight will be justified or not is a different thing.
“If a man decides from his own evaluation that he can find solace only in another party, he is free to do so. That PDP is trying to fight Tambuwal is part of politics. You do not see a good thing going away without you responding.”
He urged the Federal Government and security agencies in the country to flush out Boko Haram insurgents unleashing havoc and mayhem in some North East states.
The SAN also said it was imperative to improve on the quality of education in the country. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
