Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed how he made his money and also built a house for his mother at the age of 15.
Atiku, who is one of the presidential aspirants in the All Progressives Congress, in his new book titled ‘My Life’, which he authored, said he bought a mud house for her mother in Ganye, Adamawa State.
He gave the explanation under chapter six of the book, entitled ‘Making Money’.
He said he recognised very early in life that he had a good nose for business and this made him to apply for and obtained a Federal Housing loan.
The loan, he said, which amounted to N31,000, was the equivalent of his salary for five years as a customs officer.
He said, “I was granted a plot of land by the Gongola State Government at Yola Government Reserved Area. I hired a foreman and began building my first house.
“With close personal supervision, the bungalow was completed on time and to my taste. I rented it out immediately.
“The rent I collected in advance on the house was substantial enough for me to purchase a second plot. I built my second house and rented it out.
“I continued to plow back the rent into the building of new houses and within a few years, I had built eight houses in choice areas of Yola. I also built a new house for my mother and rebuilt the old mud house I bought for her in Ganye when I was a 15-year-old student.”
The former Vice President said property investment could be rewarding, because, according to him, returns on it could also be high depending on the location.
Kaduna, for instance, he added, was a good place to invest in property before the emergence of Abuja.
He explained that he built his first house in Kaduna with the rent he made from other property and that later, he bought six more plots and built residential houses and rented them out to individuals and institutions.
Atiku also added that of all the businesses into which he would venture, he listed what he described as a small oil services company as the most successful and most lucrative. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

With thirty children that you know about, what are we supposed to learn from you? Abiola, i learnt, had 103 children. What happened to family planning? You have set a very bad example in a nation that does not pay attention to what is happening elsewhere in the world. When it comes to breeding, hat is the difference between you and a fly? Stop disgracing us with this type of information. it is because of people like you that the world thinks we are stupid.
ReplyDeleteMallam U try! E no EASY O!
ReplyDeleteNice family, see sweet sweet girls ooh! give me one of them, make I make you win in all the Southern states...hahaha
ReplyDeleteU were able to buy a mud house at d age of fifteen when d government is good then, but now we can't buy a bicycle at the age of 40,what lesson are we to derive from that.
ReplyDeleteThis man has the tendency of buying everything in Nigeria. He charges dollars in Nigeria in his Intels camp on PH Prodeco in Warri. He is not patriotic at all. Given the chance he will buy all of us. Please stay clear of him o.
ReplyDeleteAtiku is a stupid man, wht is he try 2say, is this a moral lesson or wht? May be he is using his children 2campaign 4his presidential ambition. Pls apc dont vote 4him in primary ooo. If Atiku shld be ngr president, he wil not have time 4d masses but his children rather.
ReplyDeleteThis ius stupidity how can a man have 30 children with different women Or is it from one. Wife . Nonesense
ReplyDeleteGood riddance to bad rubbish....I am short of words!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Atiku has 100 children is not illegal. He looked after them and gave them better life. I particularly cherish his desire for property investment which is helping many people I know. People should emulate Atiku in being a property owner and landlord, not a forever tenant.
ReplyDeleteThis Atiku story shows that people do not have to concentrate on getting a house in highbrow areas of Lagos and Abuja before you build a profitable business opportunity. Small money can get you a piece of land in areas that are not popular now.
A word is enough for the wise.
a man with thirty children has nothing to offer dis nation so much concentrated on marrying can he even do the job please the presidency is not for mediocres i prefer a jonathan any day to atiku ,this is just embarrassing atiku of all people an opportunist what does he even know about nation building, economics ,science, logical reasoning thats why baba really made him a political orphan shame on this coach of 30PLAYERS,ASSISTANT REFEREES IN WIVES AND GIRLFRIEND IN ALL THE 6 GEOPOLITICAL ZONE OF THE COUNTRY AND ALL
ReplyDeleteAtiku is big liar. This man lost his father very young and he was living from hand to mouth. He went to Sch through the mercy of Nigeria scholarship and help from good Nigerians. Were did he got money to buy house at the Age 15. He was a custom officer and stole so much . This is a man that would have lavished rest of his life in prison if Nigria is check matting our leader attitude while in position. Atiku, you are a liar hence you fell out with OBJ. Our prayer is that VP is your last bus stop. All the caterering contract serving all Oil & Gas companies in Nigeria are own by you. God punish while you are alife.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about this women abuser and reckless idiot. How can building 8 houses make you a millionaire? Does he think that we are stupid? This story was meant for political propaganda. I hope you die of pain and suffering. You and others have plunged that country into poverty while you enriched yourself and family.
DeleteI SERIOUSLY DOUBT IF HE HAS UP TO 30 CHILDREN, BECAUSE FROM HIS BIOGRAPHY IT WAS STATED THAT HE HAS A LARGE FAMILY WHICH IS MADE UP OF BOTH BIOLOGICAL AND ADOPTED CHILDREN BUT I DON'T THEY ARE UP TO 30 SO I WILL WANT THE AUTHOR OF THIS ARTICLE TO GET HIS FACTS RIGHT. BUT ANYWAY ATIKU HAS MANAGED HIS FAMILY WELL EVEN WHEN IN OFFICE I HAVE NEVER HEARD A REPORT OF ANY WRONG DOING ABOUT HIS CHILDREN UNLIKE OTHERS WE HEAR ON THE NEWS OF INVOLVED IN MONEY LAUNDERING AND OIL SUBSIDY SCAMS. SO LETS GIVE THE MAN SOME CREDITS.
ReplyDeletea plygamist can\t rule naija again in this jet age!
ReplyDeleteIt is because of the part of the world we are that people like Atiku can come out and talk. If it is only candidates like Atiku and Buhari APC have to present for presidential post, it means failure even before the election.
ReplyDeleteWe will still Vote in and Rig for Atiku as long as he is in APC.....
