Relations and spouses of the recently abducted 50 young ladies and women of Madagali and Michika in Local Government Area of Adamawa State have called on President Goodluck Jonathan to rescue the abductees from the hands of the insurgents.
Some of the relations of the abducted, who spoke with our correspondent, disclosed that the people were abducted in their houses when other relations had gone to the farm.
One of the men whose wife was among the kidnapped, Mr. Sunday Kwache, told our correspondent at the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Yola on Thursday that his wife and two of his female children were in the village when the insurgents stormed Boka, Kwabapade and Tillie to abduct them.
Kwache, while appealing to the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the problem, said the government should “take action” to save the situation in order to prevent what happened to the over 200 Chibok girls from happening to the people.
Another one, who simply identified himself as Sylvanus, said, “I ran away, leaving my wife and two children. Up till date, I have not heard from her. I appeal to the Federal Government and the Nigerian military to stop the propaganda of a ceasefire.
“As far as I am concerned, the agreement of ceasefire never works world-over. It is a temporary stoppage of killing as well as allowing the insurgents, who might have run out of ammunition, to get back their arms and strategise for another onslaught, which may be uncontrollable.”
There are also strong indications in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, that some of those ladies that were abducted are not only been used as shields but are being forced into marriage by their captors.
It will be recalled that on Tuesday’s night, members of the dreaded Islamic group defied the agreement of a ceasefire and attacked Waga Mongoro, a suburb town close to Madagali, between Borno and Adamawa states. Not fewer than 50 women were abducted during the invasion.
However, the recent attack on Waga Mongoro, according to residents of the area, has sealed any hope of cessation of hostilities in the area, notwithstanding an earlier cease-fire agreement entered into by the insurgents and Federal Government.
