The Chairman, Presidential Taskforce on Power, Mr. Beks Dagogo-Jack on Friday announced his resignation and intention to contest for the office of the governor of Rivers State come 2015.
He said he would contest for the position under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Dagogo-Jack, who has been a member of the PTFP since inception in 2010, said he decided to join the governorship race after “wide consultation” with his principals and relations.
“I am resigning my position as the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Power, effective October 19, 2014. I did so after wide consultations with my principals and with those I have relationship with. This was done in good faith because I shall be presenting myself as one of the aspirants for the office of governor of Rivers State on the platform of the PDP for the 2015 elections,” he told power reporters at the headquarters of the PTFP in Abuja. What was your achievement as the Chairman Presidential Taskforce on Electricity because there is no steady power in Nigeria yet.........Since you could not do anything as the Chairman of the Taskforce to restore steady power supply in the country,it means you won't still achieve anything if you are voted in as Governor of Rivers State.
