Police nabs varsity student with eight cars


The Borno Police Command said on Tuesday that it had arrested a 29-year-old student, Mr Paul Mari who allegedly stole eight cars in Maiduguri.



The Police Commissioner, Mr. Clement Adoda while briefing journalists on Tuesday at the state command, Maiduguri said that the suspect was arrested on Sept. 28, by men of the state Anti Robbery Squad after a tip off.

“On Sept. 28, one Paul Mari, a final year student of the Department of Business Education in the University of Maiduguri was arrested by a team of Special Anti Robbery Squad in Maiduguri.
“The suspect who specialized in the theft of motor cars was arrested along Bama Road, while attempting to steal a Honda Civil Salon car

with registration number MKA 92 AH, belonging to one Mrs Ummi Umar,” he said.
Adoda said that Mari confessed on interrogation to have previously stolen six other cars in the metropolis.

However, to prevent incessant car snatching and other criminal activities in Borno state, the police commissioner, urged residents to be “security conscious” by installing anti-theft security devices in their vehicles and report any suspicious movements in their communities to the police for appropriate action in fighting crimes.
