It will be difficult for any politician to be a governor in Ogun State without the blessing of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
This is the position of a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Alhaji Gboyega Isiaka.
He spoke with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday after picking his governorship nomination form from the party’s headquarters.
Isiaka was among new members of the party, who recently defected from the Labour Party to the ruling party.
The former governorship candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria said, “We know that whoever wants to be governor of the state has to get the blessing of all, including Baba (Olusegun) Obasanjo. We are waiting and praying for the blessing of Baba.
“We know we will get it. He is the father of all and as the father, we pray for his blessing because no one can be governor of the state without his blessing.”
He said it was wrong to say that the former President was leading a faction of the party in the state, adding that the last unification rally held in the state by the party had removed those having that idea.
Another governorship aspirant from the state, Mr. Kayode Amusan, also said all the aspirants in the state were united in their desire to sack the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.
“We will work together and make sure that we wrestle power from the APC. We are united and I’m sure that I will get the support of other aspirants to be the candidate of the PDP,” he added. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
