'Nigerians treated, killed like chickens abroad'

A group, Women Arise for Change Initiative, has condemned the ways Nigerians are being treated abroad, calling on the Federal Government to protect its citizens abroad.

This is coming on the heels of the killing of Oyamuyefa, son of a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The deceased, popularly known as Oyoms, was killed on Saturday in the Middle East country.

According to the Women Arise President, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, in a statement on Wednesday, the FG should take decisive action in bringing to book anyone culpable in the death of Oyoms.

She said, “We hereby call on the Federal Government to ensure proper action on this new reported death involving young Oyamuyefa Alamieyeseigha; likewise revisit the case of Master Tyler Falode. If we fail this time, we send a permanent wrong signal.

“We are pained that our citizens are being treated and killed like chickens abroad due to little or complete absence of regard for our citizens.”

She added mistreatment and indiscriminate killings of Nigerians overseas had been going on for some time, saying that news of Nigerians killed outside the country only filtered in because the victims come from prominent family.

“While we commiserate with families of those affected, we demand that justice must be done in all cases of this unwarranted mysterious murders. We urge Nigerians and citizens in solidarity abroad, especially in Dubai to kindly assist the Nigerian Government in a bid to investigate these murders,” Okei-Odumakin stated.

The group while expressing its shock over the latest killing of the Nigerian in Dubai, recalled that the mystery behind the death of Tyler Falode (only son of the ace sports presenter Aisha Falode) had yet to be resolved.
